This papercraft is a Hiigaran Carrier, the centre of most Hiigaran fleets during the second Homeworld era, from the real-time strategy computer game Homeworld 2 of the critically-acclaimed first installment in the computer game series Homeworld, the paper model was created by Robert Ester.

The Primary role of these carriers was to support Capital Ships with fighter and frigate escort, and to be mobile bases for fighter and corvette squadrons. Not designed for front line combat are lightly armored and lack heavier armament.

Each carrier's main hangar bay is capable of producing frigates and receiving wreckage from destroyed ships for reprocessing into RUs. The forward section houses two small hangar bays for fighters and corvettes, and a large sensor array. The rear section contains a small resource handling bay, the bridge and the engines. It is very similar in design to the rear of the Battlecruiser.

The Hiigaran Carrier had ample production slots, able to accommodate fighter, corvette and frigate facilities and also has heavier armor compared to its Vaygr counterpart. The Vaygr Carrier, on the other hand, only possesses one production slot and very little armor. However, it has better defensive capabilities.

The Hiigaran Carrier is meant to serve as a full fledged production platform capable of building and repairing fighters, corvettes and frigates along with Utility vessels. These ships supplement the Mothership’s production capacity at a reasonable cost, while possessing far more mobility and ease of deployment.

Carriers can be used effectively as powerful mobile strike force additions, with their ability to not only build Hyperspace modules that allow both it and nearby Frigate and Capital sized ship[s to Hyperspace along with it, but take 10 wings of Fighters or Corvettes along for the ride within the Hiigaran Carrier’s massive bays. These units are powerful in Multiplayer for their ability to quickly deploy attack wings and Hyperspace back out again to build new attack squadrons in safe locations, or directly on the front lines if you so choose.

As a back-up, the Carrier also mounts several point defense guns scattered about the Hull of the ship. These will do some good damage to straggling wings that might make it through your defensive lines, but should not be depended on to protect the ship against a full out attack, especially if Bombers are present, since they can easily disable the ship’s subsystems.

I’ve been playing a lot of Homeworld lately. It’s been my favorite game for the past 14 years and the Remastered version concretes that even more. Betusi ftw!  Side note f you look closely you can see a symbol I may or may not have tattooed on my body ;)
