I’m glad you are doing better! That must have been terrifying. Being in pain and not knowing what is going on brings a special sense of helplessness and fear. As for migraine, stress can make these things a lot worse. My sister had a lot of stress at work and she had pain in her ears, jaw, head, because turns out she was clenching her teeth at night so badly, it fucked up her days as well.

I'm so pissed about all Kindles being touch only these days. I want the old ones with the buttons... T_T It's tough when technology just keeps changing in wrong directions

Speaking of good games - you should try Enderal, a stand-alone mod for Skyrim one day. It’s basically a separate game in itself, with a new world, and a genuinely great RPG with choice, well-written story and romances plus companions. The quality of it is well-above any mod I’ve ever seen - and frankly above most AAA titles as well. That game broke my heart btw, I’m still thinking about it even months later.

What was the biggest surprise in WoT? For me it was Verrin reveal, if speaking of scenes, but the most surprising long term development was that Egwene did not end up with Rand and that she became Amyrlin.

the Verrin reveal was a big one - though it’s interesting on my reread looking for the foreshadowing of it. Verin in general is such an interesting character, and watching her more closely this time around has been quite fun. 

this is also more of a negative one, but given what we learned about Demandred early on I expected a lot more from him than we got. he played a really background role early on, and never quite emerged from that - at least in my memory. this makes some sense knowing that Taim was originally intended to be Demandred (and then that changed later), but it was still surprising to me.

I was also pleasantly surprised by the resolution of the Min/Rand/Aviendha/Elayne square - I would never have expected that to be a polyamory thing. I just took for granted that one of them would “win out” in a sense, but that wasn’t the way it went. and I’m really glad about that. while I have a particular fondness for Min/Rand, I’m also into every other iteration of the square.

Aw heck they don’t even need to be a mage for me to love this trope, I’m just smitten by the Magical Girlfriend Gone Toxic thing.

I'm up to S2E02 - I'll probably binge watch the rest of the season this month.

Lately I've been reading Spellslinger by Sebastien de Castell, which I'm really enjoying (and would appeal to most people who like The Dragon Prince, incidentally) and partly inspired my post. I can’t say too much about Spellslinger’s strong points without giving the plot away though, unfortunately.
