I can’t remember what age I had when my parents had their biggest fight. I was probably 14 when my mom closed the main door and wouldn’t let my dad go. The fight went to insults and even a slightly deep cut in my dad’s arm. I didn’t know what to do, I didn’t wanted to sleep. Next day my dad asked me to open the door for him and he left. I remember this because it shaped my perspective of relationships and my own behavior as an adult. Before that I really thought one day I’ll be married, some kids, living that life I was taught everybody is supposed to have. Sometimes my mind go back to that moment and learn something different from the same experience. I wanted to make a photo of a child that is drag by a parent and their decisions, the weight a child carries gets heavier in time when he or she can’t express how he or she felt, and words become harder to find because you never ever tried to tell anything about it, but just in case, I’ve healed enough to this point, just sharing something personal.
