Installing high-density storage has a couple of obvious benefits. The greatest benefit is the ability to store more materials in less space. This is accomplished by installing aisles that compact together when they’re not being used. New or existing shelves can be placed on mobile carriages that are then attached to floor tracks. There are two modes of operation for mobile shelving from CFNYgroup.

Mechanical Assist Shelving: This type of shelving is moved by a large hand crank. Multiple rows of 7-foot-tall shelving can be moved with less than 1 pound of force on the control handle. Even shelving with bulky items can be moved easily and safely. This type of high-density shelving is more appropriate for applications with only a few users and less daily movement.

Powered Shelving: Shelves that are powered mechanically are easy to use and offer better security for sensitive files or costly products that may be stored within them. Powered shelving has motion sensors that will stop the movement of the carriages when someone or something is in an aisle. Once the motion sensors determine that the aisles are clear, the shelves can be moved again.
