Don’t misinterpret the phrase I need you to be less than the three words I want you. The years have taught me that it is better to be needed than wanted. Because any lost boy can want anything, a play sword, a car toy, a sugary treat. All very temporary things that bring temporary happiness, from one thing they’ll jump into wanting another, to the next, an endless got to have game. But the one thing that they need, that’s the only thing they’ll always keep. The air they breath, the water. They’ll forever need that by their side, at least if they wish to survive. And you see that’s what they will learn to appreciate, or at least what they should learn to appreciate. What I’m trying to say is you are like the air and water I need. So when I say I need you it is not because I don’t want you, because I do. I want you too. I choose you. But when I pick to choose the words I need you over those of I want you, please don’t get offended because I see it more important to tell you that I need you, because baby you are no temporary thing, you are what I need on top of I want.
