okayyy you can now finally read Will’s point of view: don’t kill me
So if I see a bunch of people I follow unintentionally posting misinformation or AI 'art' on here, because it usually does happen in waves, I generally will make a post about it trying to remind people to check their sources. (I didn't with the colorful moon photos, because honestly I have been too tired and lazy) I never intend to come across as an asshole, and unless I am actually angry about it, I try to inject humor and lightheartedness into the post, but this is me, and I know it falls flat, and I inevitably upset someone. I guess making a public post is bad and I just shouldn't say anything? But I always want the most people to see it, and I'm sorry, but I am not going to message ten people and tell them something they posted was 'wrong'. That feels incredibly aggressive and personal, and I don't really have the energy for that. (Like, I'd message someone if I actually thought something they posted was dangerously bad, but I've yet to see that happen.)
I also think it is incredibly important to check your sources in other areas of the internet, not just Tumblr. Blindly sharing things is how people fall for scams and even just things like false outrage. Now does everyone have the time to check everything they post? Of course not, but if you have the time or the energy to check the source link, or read a few comments, that can help. (And I have most definitely shared misinformation without realizing it too, so I am not trying to say I am immune to this)
The only thing I will be an asshole about on purpose is not crediting artists. I know there are a million blogs that share art here without credit, so really the fault is on them, but bless the people who do a reverse image search and provide a link back to the artist.
I also see people in the Silmarillion fandom using art from artists I love to make memes without credit, and that is just awful, and even if you repost those, shame on you honestly. I think this is actually worse than using an AI photo for your meme. Like even if you are too much of a jerk to ask the artist for permission, at least credit them. The last few I have seen, the artist is even here on Tumblr, so that's why I am extra angry about it. I am very sure other fandoms do this too, so the same thing applies, but I am not really adjacent enough to notice it like I do with the Silm fandom. I do get that it sucks you don't have screenshots or whatever to make your content from, I feel you, but artists deserve credit.
(And I am a little sorry for being a huge asshole on the last one, I am really good about getting on my soapbox, but then wanting to shrink and hide for a week afterward. Just think about sources and credit where you can, ok?)
it had to edge its brains out the moment it got some alone time . . . embarrassing !!
and it still wants more agh fuck noo
Ignore my gay yearning post... I was thinking about a character of mine (yes, a non-existent person) who I wouldn't mind being held by.
Because a big breasted redheaded godling with family issues and weird tattoos is not going to save me from my life... Even if I wish she would.

Young Mars volcano hides a powerful magma engine beneath the surface
Volcanic eruptions that look like single events are often the visible outcome of slow, complicated activity taking place deep underground. Beneath the surface, magma shifts position, changes chemically, and can sit for long stretches before finally erupting. To piece together what is happening below, scientists examine lava flows, rock textures, and minerals left behind at the surface. These…
