Analysis of Azul Ashengrotto
Using as reference the birthday card
I want to start talking of his perfectionism and his obsession about being useful, since I noticed a point in his speech too.
We learn that his mother owns a restaurant, his step-father is a lawyer and the grandmother a great witch. I have a thought on this dialogue, psychologically speaking we know that being a person in a family full of fame and important jobs has an impact on the child (as many things do). Remember how many times Azul mentions that he feels like an useless octopus? If we compare him to his family we can get the reason, he always tries to be good in everything but I don't think it's only fault of the bullying. Turning around and seeing your family being incredibly good at something while you don't have anything is terrible, yes he was good in alchemy but he started only bc he wanted to follow his grandmother steps. Why should he have so much hobbies if he already has something to be proud of? We know that Azul loves his family still, I believe he feels a little uncomfortable around them for this fact.
We can notice that he didn't only follow his grandmother steps but even his mother and step father, isn't it strange? He owns a restaurant, makes contract and wants to become a mage. It makes me wonder if he has an identity crisis (correct me if I used the wrong term) since his acting is made of his relatives pieces. As if he doesn't own one and needs to copy the others, plus speaking of copying I have more to say.
He was talking of his step-father here, now let's think about how he acts around the others students. Available, 'kind', 'sincere and gentle' (even though it's for his own benefits). "He is nobody's fool" it's something that Azul wishes to be, in chapter 3 when Leona broke his contracts he went in a overblot. Why? Because he felt tricked (thing that in fact was) and that Leona made a fool of him (Azul). It triggered him so much since for the reason that his true personality is weak, although presenting ambitions and more.
"I admire him greatly" entering his brain it has mostly one meaning = "I wish to become like him or better if I can". It's a natural thing to think, the most of us do it in the reality when we admire someone. I didn't see anyone talking about this card so I took the opportunity to evidence more, isn't it great to find out more?
I believe that he would even copy a part of your personality if it seems useful or worthy, slowly inserting it in his own of course.
