Loki stared at the clock in his office, waiting for the last five minutes. Those five minutes were your only window at actually being late, or absent. Loki was just waiting, scanning his notes on his desk, walking to the big window to see people or birds pass by, and now he’s seated on the small couch. He looked at his watch, and abruptly stood up, reaching for the telephone. But it rang.
“Loki.”
The only greeting to you, and you already started heaving. You pushed the phone away, unable to control your stomach, and before you realize it, you emptied your stomach with Loki on the phone. You coughed numerous times, before you wiped the excess on your mouth and grimacing at the mess that you are in.
Loki closed his eyes when you went again. He breathed sharply, “Are you… did you just throw up?”
“I’m not coming in today, I apologize,” you croaked, closing your eyes. “Goodbye.”
Loki stared at the phone when you hung up. He looked at the phone for a minute, and raised his eyebrow. He grabbed his suit jacket from his chair and made his way out of his office.

Right now, your cuddle buddy was the toilet. The cold and stinky toilet. Even the smell made you retch but you kept it down. You groaned against the wall, wrapping the blanket around you tighter as you settled down and waited for another one. You shut your eyes for a while, and before you even know it, you were already snoozing on the lid of the toilet.

Something was poking you on the side, and was even shaking your shoulder. When you opened your eyes, it was Loki with a disgusted face and his fingers pinching his nose. You closed your eyes, “Why are you here?”
Loki stood up, towering over your hunched figure over the toilet. “Well, I have come to find out why you won’t be coming today,” he explained and gestured his hands over you. “I now know the reason why.”
You pushed yourself to stand up, and Loki immediately had his hand over your arm to help you. He looked at the other side, silently heaving when you stood up. You pinched his arm, “That’s not very nice.”
“I can’t help it,” he said, smiling gently. “You smell and look horrible.”
He helped you walk to your room, his hand hovering over you incase you stumble. He didn’t ask any more questions when you settled on your bed, pulling the covers over your chin. You feel cold, and you just wanted to rest and your eyes feel so heavy with tiredness. Loki remained standing by your bed, and he reached down to cover your feet with the blanket.
“Are you settled in?” He asked softly, closing the lights.
“Yes,” you whispered against the covers and turned your body away. You heard the door creaked, and you called him. “Loki?”
“Is there a problem?” He immediately asked, rushing over to you.
“How did you know I live here?” You asked, sleep ready to take you.
He rolled his eyes, making his way to the door. “Go to sleep.”

Loki rested on your couch, taking off his jacket and untacking his shirt. He kept looking back at your door, and listened intently. He closed his eyes for a minute, before making his way towards your door to see you tightly curled on the bed with your big blanket around you. He shut the door behind him, and made his way outside your apartment to head over to the shops.
He stopped in front of a grocery store and gathered whatever he needed. It was also raining so he stopped by the pharmacy to get some cold medicine just in case. He finally made his way back, and stood in your kitchen. He placed his ingredients on the counter, with his phone propped up. He scrolled through numerous recipes, cursing the whole time.
“Why don’t I know how to cook,” he whispered as he turned on your stove and gathered various pots. He sighed deeply, massaging his temple.
He thought of his Mother, how she would always come in his room whenever he’s feeling sick. ‘Soup and fluids, my son,’ he remembered is what his Mother would always say. ‘Eat your soup while it’s hot.’ His mother would always sit by his bed, watching him finish his soup, and when he’s done, she’ll tuck himself and touch his forehead. She would smile fondly, and leave when he finally closed his eyes and sleep.
He settled on a chicken soup to make, slicing up ingredients with his very own dagger. He smiled when he perfectly cut up a carrot, congratulating himself over a small thing. He waited for his soup to boil, and when it did, he turned off the stove. He shifted through various cabinets and searched for bowls and utensils. Loki tasted his own creation, blowing the hot soup and taking a taste.
“I don’t know how Midgardian soup tastes like,” he worried, putting down his spoon. He took another taste and nodded to himself. “I think it tastes all right…”
Hearing the door shut close, Loki peeked through the doorway and saw you walking towards the living room. You looked terrible still, but it was definitely better when he saw you snoozing beside your toilet.
“I’m in the kitchen,” Loki called, standing up to prepare you a hot bowl. He saw you in his peripheral view and he turned around and gestured for the table. “I hope you don’t mind, but I’ve made soup for you.”
You raised your brow at him, perplexed as to why you would even come to your home. And why he knows where you lived since you have no memory of sharing that information with him. You crossed your arms, “How do you know I live here?”
He smiled sheepishly and placed your bowl at the table. He also grabbed a glass of water and sat down. “I looked through your folder,” he explained, “Eat your soup while it’s hot.”
Nodding your head, you sat down at the table, picking up the spoon he gave you. You blew away the steam and finally took a bite. You tried not to grimace at the taste but Loki quickly looked at your face. You smiled, taking another bite. Loki also grimaced and quickly took away your bowl.
“It’s terrible,” he said, heading to the sink.
“No!”
Loki turned around and poured the contents down the sink. You sighed as he apologized for the taste. “I’m not really a good cook… I don’t even cook.”
It didn’t exactly taste like shit, there was a subtle flavor, but it was just so salty. You chuckled softly, and shrugged your shoulders. “If it makes you any better, I don’t cook as well. Aside from omelettes and pancakes.”
Loki laughed and sat down beside you. Silence settled between the two of you, and you looked around avoiding his pointed eyes at you. Suddenly, you felt his hand touch your forehead and looked at him with wide eyes. He laid his hand on your forehead a second longer and slowly took it back. “Frigga used to do that to me when I’m sick,” he whispered. “I’m sorry.”
“It’s all right,” you whispered back. You smiled and straightened your back, “So what’s the verdict, Doctor?”
He rolled his eyes at you with a smile on his lips. “Nothing a couple hours of sleep can’t fix,” he joked around. Glancing at the clock in your kitchen, he stood up and so did you.
“I have to get going,” he said, heading towards the living room where he left his suit jacket. He picked up medicine from the pharmacy and handed them to you. “I’ve also got you some medicine for flu and colds.”
“Thank you,” you said, accepting the medicine and followed him as he stopped in front of your door.
He turned around, fixing his jacket and buttoning it. “Shall I see you tomorrow?”
You opened the door for him, and he took a step outside as he looked at you over. “I don’t know yet,” you answered, smiling lightly.
He nodded, putting his hands in his pockets, “Call earlier next time and maybe I’ll pick some soup on the way.”
Loki started walking away and when you were about to close the door, he stopped, “Nine in the morning. Sharp.”
