THE “SPEAKING STONES” -NAMORATUNGA PILLAR SITE, TURKANA, KENYA Our local Guide from Lodwar to Kalokol explained that, once upon a time, there were no stones here at all but one fateful day, a small tribe of people were dancing on this site. Perhaps they looked strange, or had an unusual way of dancing, for when a group of strangers happened to find them dancing, the dancers pleaded with them not to laugh. The strangers could not hear the dancers neither could they help it and so burst out laughing, upon which the dancers were turned to stone. one is supposed to walk to the site with a stone and place it on top of the others.
