it’s said that kanan’s force training is equal to that of grandmaster yoda’s. not to say that kanan is close or close to surpassing him, of course, though a good portion of his life, kanan’s force training had been the only training he actually used. his lightsaber training stopped right as order 66 happened, and he had to rely on new means of protection. while he spent a good few years avoiding the force - wishing he could magically turn it off - it is the one skill he’s honed from the time he was a padawan to seeing the kanan of 1bby.
despite everything, despite what the jedi gave him, took away from him, despite the trouble that came from being a jedi in the time after the purge, it had been the one constant in his life... and while he wouldn’t say he’s thankful, he is somewhat glad it came in handy for the most important moments of his life. ( * a new dawn : saving yelkin in the mines / saving hera from the catwalk falling on top of her. )
and that’s why his training with ezra was so dependent on the force. his first training session with ezra to have him handstand and telling him to “focus. focus on letting go.” even going on to getting him to try to connect through the force with another living being. while kanan’s original lessons were on soresu, master billaba encouraged his force training, knowing that, in the end, it might be the only thing he has left.
furthermore, there’s the scene in season 3 where kanan holds up a fucking BRIDGE on geonosis so saw and rex can pass the chasm, and then goes on to force jump his way to the next platform. something that’s only ever been seen been done by grandmaster yoda himself in a specific clone wars ep. while kanan spent most of his life hating the force, it never really left him.
