oh yeah, so, I was saying something about writing my fanfic to my mom and she asked me why I don't write my own stories and it just. rubbed me the wrong way.
because ultimately it circles back to the whole idea of "if you are any good at it you HAVE TO monetize it" that I can't stand.
fanfiction does not (and by its nature CAN NOT) make me any money. I don't get paid for writing 7 oneshots, or for pouring months into writing something longer. but that's not the fucking point.
I don't want to write my own original story. I don't want to be a published author with my own world and characters. it's not something I dream of.
I just want to write fanfiction. because I think it's fun. I enjoy writing, and I'm doing what I enjoy. so what if they aren't my characters? I don't have characters anyway. but the situations are still important, the plot, the actions, the dialogue. just because it isn't a ""real"" story doesn't mean I don't care for it, love it, want to write it.
idk. this was very rambly. just, not everyone who writes wants to write their books. sometimes they just want to write fanfiction.
