YG-III Gundam G-Else
And here we have the final known Build Divers Break kit. This was a fun little sub-line, with some very creative Gunpla ideas. The Shining Break added a new fighting style and features, the Zerachiel added new weaponry and a new mode, and the Build Ξ completely reworked the joints. The G-Else takes a unit known for its backpacks, and incorporates them into unique bit-like weapons that also double as body parts. Theyβre all pretty great.
The Good: This is a great example of new parts in good locations. Other than the weapons, the only parts changed out were the mouth plate and shoulders, yet it feels like an entirely different MS. The colors certainly help with that, too.
The kit also comes with all the parts required to build the original G-Self, minus the backpack. In fact, if you also have a G-Self Perfect Pack, which I believe uses the same shade of maroon red in all the places as the G-Elseβs off white, you can build an entirely black and maroon G-Self. Iβm honestly tempted to do this, or repurpose my old G-Selfs to accomplish it.
The Bad: All the issues I have with the G-Else stem from the original release. The elbows can only bend 90Β°, which limits posability to a degree, and the waist is somewhat loose and pops apart when youβre posing it.
The Details: There was a lot of metallic red sticker detailing that I replaced with paint. I also ended up doing all the panel lining in the same color (which, ironically, with the Shining Break, mimics the panel lining pattern Iβve been using for Re:Rise). I added maroon to the shoulder vents and the head vulcans, as well as the forehead (which was originally a sticker).
One special thing I did was I painted white underneath all the translucent red pieces to embolden them like I do with a lot of translucent parts. I also painted the toes white, since they were originally black.
Overall, this is a neat kit, and a good example of how minor differences can create a drastic effect on a Gunpla, which can be a good lesson if youβre designing a custom. Thereβs also some neat ideas for customization, especially since this kit allows for the use of the G-Selfβs backpacks. Also, a great companion piece for the Shining Break. Still hoping they release the Guard Frame Variant.
