Solas X Lavellan. Post In Hushed Whispers. Angst with a sweet end. Requested by @just-emotionalistic . This is posted from mobile so sorry for any weird formatting!

“I am dying, but it is of no matter-”
It kept replaying over and over again in her head. His words to her when she and Dorian had first found him, they kept replaying over and over in her head-
“-if you can undo this, they can all be saved.”
Except for Leliana. Except for the Iron Bull.
Except for him.
The roar of the archdemon dragon over them signaled the end. He turned to her in earnest, pained.
“You cannot stay here! We’ll hold the outer door. When they get past us, it will be your turn.”
She wanted to take him in her arms then and tell him how she felt, to tell him what he meant to her in the few months they had known each other. He held her eyes a moment longer and followed the Iron Bull out of the throne room door. Leliana readied herself in front of them.
She and Dorian had stood at the end of Alexius’s throne room in this distorted future as their companions, their friends stood defending them. She heard a roar of pain as Bull fell, the demons from the Veil-less world crawling over his fallen form, piling higher and higher. Her eyes widen in fear. If Bull had already fallen then what about him? She had turned her attention away from Dorian, stepped forward to try to see-
Dorian yanked her arm back.
“You move and we all die!”
The door flung open just then and her stomach dropped. Solas’s limp form was thrown over the threshold and demons poured in. She couldn’t breathe, couldn’t hear Leliana’s words as her mouth moved. The Fade felt different without him.
“Is everything alright? You seem troubled.”
She jumped. She was sitting on the edge of one of Haven’s stone walls, one of the few secret places of privacy she had found.
“I’m... fine. Still shaken from everything in Redcliffe if I’m going to be honest.”
He offered a small smile of reassurance.
“That is to be expected. From what Dorian has told us, things in this strange future you experienced sound... troubling.”
He was trying to tiptoe around pressing her. She would never understand his ability to tell when she wanted to talk about something and when she didn’t, even if he was overly cautious sometimes.
“It wasn’t just hypothetical, Solas. It was reality for everyone there, for Leliana and Bull and-“ her breathe hitched a little, “and it was real for you too.
“I saw you- all of you put your lives on the line for the chance that we could prevent it from ever occurring. I still can’t shake seeing... I saw-“
“If it is too troubling to speak about, do not feel obligated to-“
“I can’t shake seeing you dead, Solas. I can’t forget watching Leliana die in front of us. But of all the companions I have made here, in the time since the Breach and the conclave, you’ve been the most steadfast friend. It’s affected me more than I expected.”
She held her breathe a little bit. She wasn’t shy about flirting with Solas, but she wasn’t entirely ready to talk about anything beyond then. What if he had read into the words she hadn’t spoken? This was not the most opportune time for a confession of the heart. She chewed on her lip nervously and opened her mouth to apologize, but before she could, he spoke.
“I am sorry,” he said.
“For what? You have nothing to apologize for, if anything I didn’t mean to unload this all.”
“I apologize,” he continued, “for not realizing how this impacted you sooner. And I am sorry for not taking the situation as seriously as it has affected you. If you would allow me, I would like to remedy things, and provide an ample distraction from the things you’ve seen.”
That... was unexpected.
“I,” Lavellan stammered, “I would appreciate that very much.”
“Excellent!” he said. He reached for her hand gently, “I happen to know the kitchens have just received an order of Orlesian cakes, and the battlement outside them provides adequate privacy for friendly conversation. Of course, the cakes are for visiting dignitaries, but I’m sure they can spare a few for their Herald.”
Lavellan smiled. Perhaps it would be alright if he did read into her feelings. She certainly wouldn’t mind if he did at their private picnic of frilly cakes. A conversation with Solas would certainly reground her in this reality and give her more reason to prevent the one she had seen.
Sorry I’ve had spotty activity! I’ve been going through a rough depressive episode, probably the worst one I’ve had in a very long time. But! I’m back on antidepressants and still as in love with our EggBoy as ever!!! Taking prompts again!!

12. Did they drink from the Well of Sorrows? Why or why not?
They did not. At that point, they had romanced Solas and still held his opinions about the situation in high regard. Sam didn’t initially trust Morrigan, but ultimately decided that the world needed the anchor and if anything was going to happen to her as a result of drinking from the well, it wouldn’t be worth risking the world falling to Corypheus.
28. Did they disband the Inquisiton or maintain it?
Disband. Especially after learning Solas was Fen’Harel. Sam figured the organization was crawling with spies and preferred to keep a few close contacts rather than risk information being constantly leaked to the wrong people.
34. How do they cope with the stress of being Inquisitor?
Very poorly, initially. Sam has a tendency to blame bad things happening on herself, so a lot of the deaths she witnessed in the first few months after the conclave really messed with her. After building trust in her new friends, however, she realized that she can’t save or help everyone and that it’s easier to work through things with close friends than to let it eat you from the inside out.
Hey, are you still writing for the pre-relationship prompts? Could I request "8. A companion teases them about their feelings"?
Hi! I just moved back to school and am only now able to sit down and write this! Yes, I am still taking prompts :)
Dorian let out a “HA!” as he set down his casket of Tevinter wine.
“You WHAT?”
“Dorian! Shut. Up.”
“I just can’t believe, with all the might and prowess you possess, that you might be so foolish as to like him of all peoeple!”
Samahlan had invited Dorian, Varric, the Iron Bull, and Solas, too, though he had declined the offer, out to drinks after they had taken down a high dragon in the Hinterlands. She had thought it might be a nice way to celebrate a victory with friends but now, approximately ... six? drinks in, she was beginning to regret it.
Sam groaned and laid her face down in her arms folded on the bar.
“I knew I shouldn’t have told you. I’m too drunk. Don’t ask me anything anymore, I’m not telling you shit.”
“How long have you known you like him?” Varric asked.
“A couple months.”
Sam blinked.
“Shite, fuck off!”
Dorian and Varric laughed. The varrying states of inebriation her companions were in were certainly were not helping the situation. Dorian had so far matched Sam drink for drink, while Varric had only had a few. Sam felt like every time she blinked the Iron Bull had something new in his hand, but it might have just been her state of impaired reasoning.
“This is why I don’t do this, this, feelings thing, everyone makes such a big deal over it.”
“Maybe you just need to get laid,” the Iron Bull offered, “certainly helps me get my mind off of crap I don’t want to think about.”
“Yeah,” Dorian laughed, “but I’m sure it’d only be beneficial for our dear Samahlan if it were by someone in particular.”
Sam’s pointed ears grew hot as she flushed in embarrassment.
“Fuck off,” she quipped, smiling slightly, as she took another drink, “who wants to play Wicked Grace? Maybe we can get Solas to play.”
“Only if we’re gambling clothes.”
Sam lightly smacked the Iron Bull as Varric moved from the bar to grab Chuckles and set up the game.

If you're doing the pre-relationship prompts, how about Sam's first impression of Solas??
Ahhhh tumblr eats my notifications sometimes!!! Posting from mobile so apologies for formatting issues.
Samahlan (Sam) Lavellan X Solas pre-relationship tag
Sam wasn’t a huge fan of Solas when they first met. She didn’t hate him but she definitely wasn’t initially interested in him romantically. She grew up in a strict Dalish clan that was heavy-set in following ritual and tradition, which didn’t always work for her. She’s incredibly headstrong and stubborn, so when her magic surfaced and she became first and had her future essentially laid out for her, she wasn’t too happy. Luckily her Keeper was kind and knew that her being first wasn’t what she really wanted, so they sent her to the conclave to let her experience more freedom than normal. Explosion, etc. etc.
She thought of Solas as a potential out at first, actually. Before speaking with him, she thought maybe he was a city elf who could help her set up a life of her own, but she was quick to learn that wasn’t the case. She wasn’t expecting to gain interest in the fade, either, but she found herself enraptured by his stories and his wandering lifestyle. One thing led to another and.... well, you know how it goes.
Hello all~ prompts are still open and will be probably through the end of the month!!! Didn’t expect the reaction I got on my first prompt response but I’d love to write more! I’m trying to get back in the habit.

She looked around them, at the fallen towers, at the broken gate, at the cracked statue of Mythal at their feet. The sharp smell of blood and fear filled the air between them.
She put her hand on his cheek an forced him to look at her.
“Can it be undone?”
He couldn’t make eye contact with her.
“I don’t know.”
