Hong Kong’s Diary, Entry #1
5 April 2019
Dear Diary,
At times, I really hate my life.
The housing prices are so damn high that most youths have given up on home ownership.
Mainlanders are running rampant and my bosses have done nothing about it.
My ‘good education system’ equals memorizing bulls**t and Form 3 (Grade 9) kids having to do DSE-level Maths questions (aka for Form 6 - Grade 12 - kids), and encourages children to work so hard that even six-year-olds get depression.
My air quality is cr*ppy (not Beijing-bad, but still terrible).
My world-renowned-efficient-as-f**k MTR (Mass Transit Railway) system is starting to break down every other month. (Okay, that was an exaggeration.)
I’m dying while Mainland China grows and takes back control, freedoms and the culture of my own people from me. Me, their City, their true home!
Everyone keeps saying that Singapore is so much better than I am. Is it really a surprise that I’m one of the most pessimistic countries-and-regions in this world, as reported earlier this year?
- Leon K. L. Wong-Kirkland, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China
P.S. Another thing that I hate about myself: WHY THE F**K DOES MY FULL NAME HAVE TO BE SO DAMN LONG???
