Heroic Animals #2 - Ruthie
Ruthie works for a company called K-9 Comforts. Sheâs been a therapy dog available at some of the worst tragedies across the United States and was given the award as the 2016 ASPCA dog of the year.Â
Ruthieâs first assignment as a therapy dog was spending six weeks with the children in Newtown after the Sandy Hook Shooting.Â
Ruthie has also made stops and comforted people in Orlando, after the nightclub shooting, in Boston after the Boston Marathon Bombing occurred, and in Oklahoma after a series of tornadoes.Â
One of the survivors of the Sandy Hook shooting and her nine year old brother formed a strong bond with Ruthie, and they were the two that presented Ruthie with her reward as the ASPCA dog of the year.Â
