Night lights Hernando Bruno
Hernando and Bruno sat together at the precipice, looking down on the encanto as the sun set and the lights came to life at the festival below.
“It’s nice up here,” Hernando said. “You really can see the whole village.”
“I like it better than being down there in all the commotion.” Bruno tightened the blanket around himself as the night air dropped to a chilling degree. “But it sure does look warm and inviting..”
Hernando looked down at him and offered him his blanket to wrap in to keep his friend warm. He held him close as they watched the night lights shimmer below.
“You know, it may be darker up here and not as warm, but I’m here with you. You’re not alone..”
In the darkness, Hernando couldn’t see the tears that welled in his eyes, but he could hear it in his voice when Bruno replied, “I know...thank you.”
