do you mind me asking what brand of wheelchair you have? i'm in desperate need of a new one and i honestly don't even know where to start. the one i have now is a children's chair that is unnecessarily heavy and has several features that i really just don't need anymore. do you have any tips or tricks on choosing a new one?
Hi! I totally relate to that heavy/not ideal wheelchair feel. I had a really shitty wheelchair until a few months ago. I might not be the best personal to ask, since I’ve only been a wheelchair user for about a year, but I’ll do what I can to help! Â
My wheelchair is a Rogue by KiMobility. To start your search, I would recommend finding a wheelchair clinic near you, or another organization that helps supply people with mobility aids. That’s how I got the chair I have now, and it was really helpful! I had an appointment where I talked with an expert about what I wanted and needed out of a wheelchair, and they took my measurements, so that my wheelchair would have the right dimensions for me.Â
If you have good insurance, they’ll probably cover the cost of getting a wheelchair that way. If you don’t have insurance, or they won’t cover a new chair, I would still recommend talking with a wheelchair clinic/provider; there are often places that offer a variety of second-hand chairs for a low cost or free, and asking an expert (even if they can’t provide the service directly) is a good in-road and starting point to finding what you need.

I have Spastic Diplegia as well with my right side more effected than my left.
