Henlo. Tis me. The hermit angst fairy So you have seen all those aus with grian and his past series? What if Joe remembers his past in super hostile. That nagging voise that mocked his every mistake and how everything could have been a trap or a scheme. The scars that healed but he refused to look still ache yet he is trying to go forward. When he tells his tales to others they ask him "did the trauma make you kind?" he responds "no, i made myself kind." Anyways byeee~~
THAT'S SOME GOOD ANGST
OH THANK YOU THE GREAT HERMIT ANGST FAIRY
So what if Joe just... doesn't tell anyone about his past untill it's brought up.
And he tells everyone so casually about things he went through like that's just another part of life. That sounds a lot like what he does, right?
And sure, he's not downplaying it, but some hermits can't help but ask him if he needs a hug. Joe laughs and smiles kindly, flattered, and accepts the hug, and it feels like the kindness of others is healing his past scars.
No, a hug might not actually heal the physical damage, but Joe notes to himself he should use it against other damage more often.
It's pretty cool living always surrounded by friends now. Joe can get used to that.

After escaping the DreamSMP and ending up on Hermitcraft, Tommy hadnât even started to heal yet. Nightmares still infected his sleep and the instinct to flinch at sudden movements was still overly prevalent: the trust just wasnât quite there.
However, this said nothing about the other Hermitcraft members, they were- at least the single lady he had met- so nice to him. The lady, he now knows as Pearl, had found him at spawn and had given him good food and a warm home. It was so much more than Tommy could ever summon the courage to ask for.
He had since made himself a home: it was inside a little hill covered in alliums and he had made it look pretty. Pearl had helped him move in, she had commended him on how pretty his humble home was. She helped decorate the small space with shelves and other storage devices, smiling as she watched Tommy adjust the little figurines and flower pots that littered the shelves.
He was still much too scared to talk to any other hermits. They all built amazing things around him, he couldnât help but feel small. The height of their builds just towered over him, they forced the memories of the shattered savannah into his head, the memories of losing what he cared about, the fleeting embrace of his best friend, the panic as he realised it was a checkmate.
There were still these memories. The nightmares. His aversion to buttons. His intrusive memories of Dream. Those would always stick around the most. He would find himself waking up in a cold sweat, from dreaming that He was still there, and that He still had control. That He could still hurt him.
Whenever this happened, he would sit outside on his bench, he played with his beloved Cat while he watched the other hermits build and have their fun.
He didnât feel left out, though. He was perfectly content with being left alone. He swears.
One night, he was listening to Mellohi on his bench, observing two of the hermits and their conversation about the moon. One had slicked black hair and a matching black moustache which bounced as he talked. Various spots and blemishes covered his face and from his position on his hill he could smell the waft of starch. The man was still dressed in his sleeping clothes, a superhero-inspired onesie. Tommy figured that this had to be Mumbo, from how Pearl had described the man.
The other had dark blonde hair and was wearing a warm red sweater. Tommy already knew this was Grian as he had often stopped by Pearlâs base for a chat. Tommy always kept his distance but he stayed close enough that he learned things. Such as how now Tommy was watching from a distance as the two, apparently, marvelled at the moon.
From where he was sitting, he could just make out hearing a small âOh, I need a hugâ from Mumbo, as he stood and stared off to the side. Grian then had approached him from behind, wrapping his arms around his shoulders and hugging him close, and Tommy could just make out a small hum.
Mumbo paused before he freaked out and bursted out laughing; the two falling into plush grass, becoming a heap of bubbling laughter under the not-at-all-threatening moon.
Tommy smiled at how comfortable the two were with each other. The scene had reminded him of himself and Tubbo, at least before everything happened.
Although, his disc had long since finished, so he went inside.
/
Tommy would go on to see this happen several other times.
He would see them hum as they hugged after Mumbo had been barraged by phantoms or when they both had not slept in days, their exhaustion resulting in the hug just being them laying on top of each other. A small hum could be heard, shared between them.
He would hear the hum as they hugged goodbye, he heard the hum when Grianhad collapsed into Mumboâs arms after sleeping for the first time in months, he had dreamed of feeling the hum rumble against his chest as they had hugged.
Tommy figured being truly alone would be 10 times better than whatever the fuck this is. Although Tommy, ever the extrovert, loved being around people, he wished nothing more than to be alone. Even though Dream wasn't saying anything, he still loomed over him like a bad mistake, just watching, judging him.
He knew where this nightmare was going, where it ended. Tommy was almost willing for it to happen as he waited for Dream to raise his fist, to punch him, to set him free.
âIâm not going to hurt you, Tommy.â Dream whispered, he reached over to cup Tommyâs tear-covered cheek. Tommy pulled away, his face sour as he held Dreamâs hand away from his face.
âYou canât change the story, Dream,â Tommy said, his voice weak from lack of use.
âI could do whatever I please, Tommy.â Dream said, his smile widening across his face, behind a broken, bloodstained mask. âAnd, I wonât punch you. No, now I donât even have to touch you. The fact that this one stable thing you've got going for you- if I change this, I can break you. I don't even need to try anymore.â
âPlease,â Tommy whimpered, closing his eyes.
âJesus, youâre fucked. Begging me? Oh, come on now. You think if the pain is physical, it will go away? Well, thatâs not true Tommy, you know that. You have to be smarter than that.â he laughed.
âPlease, donât leave me alone, please!â Tommy yelled, as Dream turned his back.
âQuiet! Youâre acting like a baby. Good boys donât act like babies.â Dream sneered, before he disappeared behind the iron door. Tommy rushed to it, banging against it. His tears pooled on the floor in front of him and soaked his shirt as he pleaded for Dream to please, please come back.
He beat on the door until his fists bled, until he collapsed against it and tucked himself into a little ball, sobbing.
He was wrong again. He didnât want to be alone.
He didnât want to be alone so he went to sit on his bench.
/
Mumbo was simply on a walk, taking the time admiring his base and just enjoying the nighttime atmosphere. He strolled along his regular path, coursing around the boatem hole then the hourglasses before looping back to where Pearlâs base was.
He saw a lanky blonde, sitting on his bench outside of a flower covered hill. The boy looked rather distressed, and the cardigan he was wearing couldn't be doing a good job at keeping the cold out. The kid's eyebrows were pinched and his face was pulled into a frown, his posture was closed off as he was curled into himself while stroking his arms.
Mumbo decided to take a detour then, approaching the new member with enough confidence to compensate for Tommyâs obvious struggle. He had heard very little about him, mainly he had heard that he was rather skittish.
âHey, mate, arenât you a little bit cold?â Mumbo said tentatively, the boy looked up at him with wide eyes. His face had tear tracks. Large bags were under his eyes almost as if they were permanent, like the scars that dug into his face. The boy looked feeble and small, Mumbo couldn't help but want to help him.
Tommy hummed, small and desperate. Mumbo took this as a plea for comfort so, with caution, he approached and sat next to Tommy. The grass was soft, letting him sink into the foliage as he watched Tommy pluck an allium, he twisted the flower between his hands before throwing it down the back of the hill.
âWhatâs on your mind, the moon getting to you?â Mumbo chuckled, a feeble attempt to lift the mood when Tommy just all but collapsed against his shoulder. Tommy's blonde hair nestled into mumboâs neck as he frantically tried to accept the crying child into a hug, Mumbo pulled him softly to a point where their chests met.
Tommy was held on to Mumboâs lapel, grasping desperately as he sobbed. The small specs of pollen from Tommyâs fingers left a stain of yellow but Mumbo couldnât find it in himself to care, the child had all but crumbled leaving a shocked Mumbo to pick up the pieces.
When the cries were not seeming to slow Mumbo thought back to the nights spent with Grian in a similar state. He had spoken about recent projects, explaining the inner workings of their redstone mechanics till the avian stilled to soft snores.
So he started talking, walking Tommy through his awesome batman door, explaining what a comparator was and how he had used them to extend the pulse from the initial trigger. He explained how the slime and honey blocks were used only faulting when Tommy started crying harder at the mention of honey.
Around the part of how the timing lined up Tommy had almost stopped crying, little sniffles were all that interrupted Mumbos speech. Mumbo paused,
âSo, how are you doing little dude?â The question was soft, layered with concern and sympathy. The only response he received was Tommy nudging further into his blazer, not even a hum could budge past his lips.
âOkay, how about we move into somewhere warmer, you're living below in this hill, yeah?â A small nod was felt against Mumbo's chest so he shuffled off his blazer, electing to keep it hung over Tommyâs head and shoulders. The two shuffled down the hill, Tommy clinging to Mumbo as if he was the only thing keeping him on Hermitcraft.
They made it back to his hobbit hole, Mumbo blindly reached for the first blanket so he could swap out the stained clothing piece with something softer. It was a pretty salmon pink, a short fluff covering the whole thing, he recognised it from Pearl's own collection.
Tommy was sitting on his bed, many blankets were strewn across it but were now being pulled into where Tommy was sitting. Mumbo gathered the blankets so that they wrapped his form, Tommy helped by dragging them into his chest.
Once the blankets were adequately positioned Tommy extended his arms with a hum. It was an invitation for a hug. Mumbo was going to give this guy a hug.
Only hesitating slightly, Mumbo wrapped his arms around Tommy, resting the boyâs head in the divot between his shoulder and his neck. Tommy leaned into Mumbo, letting himself be held like this. Tommyâs shaking arms squeezed him tightly.
Tommy could have cried and soaked Mumboâs onesie right then and there. And so he did. He hadn't felt this safe since Wilbur held him at the start of Lâmanburgâs history. He felt the rumble from the small hum as Mumbo patted his hair.
Tommy could have curled into Mumboâs arms and fallen asleep right then and there. And so he did. The blankets that were covering him swamped his sleeping form, Mumbo shifted so that his back was leant against the wall. There was no escape from this blanket prison and part of Mumbo wanted to be there if the boyâs sleep were to be disrupted.
Adding on to hermits and their pasts, a couple other hermits have also played the Super Hostile map (cough cough Zombie Cleo, but she had a human skin at the time-)
What if the hermits that have been in Super Hostile keep those memories storwd away.
And then Tango comes along, with Decked out. Joe and maybe some other hermits are immediately reminded of their time in Super Hostile?
After all, both involve being at the mercy of the creator of the game as they taunt you. Traversing dangerous land with mobs that kill you, only to complete a set of items, with a bittersweet reward at the end.
