Hey! Any thoughts on a Mary/Hermione friendship? Either when younger or as they are now 😊 the most recent episode made me crave some good content between the two!
I LOVE Mary and Hermione being best friends and it's one of my earliest headcanons. I see them being a bit like digest beronica. Popular, outgoing (and perhaps a little mean) Hermione who always had multiple boys after her and smart, over achieving (yet not a pushover) Mary who'd just as soon give you the shirt off her back as she would tell you off for wrong doing.
Mary was also probably quite a bit of Hermione's impulse control and I can see her constantly putting a hand on Hermione's shoulder and going "maybe we shouldn't?" 50/50 on Hermione actually taking the advice.
The two were also completely protective over each other. Hermione could tease Mary over being a nerd or Mary could call Hermione out for being a bitch, but the second someone else did it was over for them 🔪🔪🔪
There was no jealous when Mary started dating Fred because it was long over between him and Hermione and Hermione legitimately wanted both of them to be happy. I won't say they parted Riverdale on a bad note, but they did fall out of touch and I can see that being more on Hermione's side, thus Mary's immediate coldness towards her in 1x11. (ending with her asking her out two minutes later... mary could literally never stay mad at her.)
