The idea came from a simple observation: card games for conversation exist, but most either cost money, require an app install, or limit what you can play without paying. We wanted something you could open on a phone at dinner and start drawing cards in under five seconds.

Three game modes. Classic: take turns drawing. Timed: pressure makes people say unexpected things. Hot Seat: one person, multiple questions, no escape. The daily question feature was a late addition, a single question per day to keep people coming back between sessions.

The deck themes matter. "Couples" and "Deep" serve completely different conversations. We didn't mix them. A card about childhood memories doesn't belong next to a dare. If you've tried We're Not Really Strangers, Here We Ask is the digital, free, no-account equivalent with a much larger card pool.

Couples on a long drive. Open hereweask.com, pick the Couples deck, tap Classic mode. Each card is a question that actually goes somewhere. A round takes ten minutes before the conversation starts running on its own.

Friends who already exhausted small talk. Switch to the Deep Talk or Spicy deck. Timed mode adds a clock if the group needs pace. Hot Seat mode puts one person in the center answering everything. Groups tend to burn through 30+ cards before anyone checks the time.

Family dinners that need rescuing. The Family deck keeps things warm without getting heavy. Pass one phone around the table or cast the screen.

Solo question browsing. Some people preview decks before hosting. Others scroll through for journaling prompts. Daily Question on the home screen serves one fresh card each day.

We built Here We Ask because we kept running into the same thing during playtesting at Inithouse: couples would pick up the Couples deck, read one question out loud, and the whole room would go quiet. Not awkward quiet. Thinking quiet.

The Couples deck has over 150 questions sorted by intensity. Some are light ("What's the last thing that made you laugh together?"). Some go deeper ("What's a fear you've never told me about?"). You pick the level, the game does the rest.
