Yeah, for sure, I definitely understand the meaning behind it. My question is more where does the actual phrasing of ‘call me by your name and i’ll call you by mine’ itself come from, because it’s such a specific way of expressing that feeling of unity, you know?
Maybe it is just a product of the feeling that they’re one person in that moment and he just says it. But I also feel like maybe he’s had those words floating around inside him, waiting for the right person to say them to for a while.
