You know what this is? It's our welcome mat. It brings family in, and watches family leave. Lately....that family is smaller, as our oldest has moved out. We have six kids. We have 5 bedrooms....one has been evacuated. Now we deal with the pain of letting go. It's not unknown....or even an unwelcome phase...as life does its best to make us more than who we thought we could be. Yet...it's surreal. It's not what we were prepared for...or expecting. So, we hold our head up. We pray...and yes....even fast, over this season. We make it a point to stand in the gap...unflappable, for those that we've raised and love. We do all that we can in the storm. We love and we let go. We brace, and boldly believe for good things to come out of this...and are utterly grateful for those that are willing to walk through the mess of independence with us. It's okay to stand outside the storm...and still know WHO controls it. It's okay...even though it doesn't feel that way. He makes a way for us...when there's seemingly no way.
