If you have Depression , ADHD, Autism, are disabled, etc, you need to know that it’s ok to go out looking gross sometimes to do something to help yourself. The bathroom of the place I’m currently living is fucking disgusting, to the point that I haven’t showered for a week now purely to avoid it. Today though, I have the energy, so I’m going out and getting rubber gloves to go disinfect the whole place. That requires going out with greasy matted hair and the least gross clothes I can find, but it is fine because right now the best thing is to focus on making my habitat somewhere I can be happy and healthy, one step at a time.
In college there’s been many times where I didn’t want to go out to class because all I had was pajamas, I felt utterly unpresentable, and so I didn’t, and that was a mistake. I was worse off for it. One mindset I keep a lot when cleaning is that it’s ok to be gross in the process of getting less gross, and that applies to helping yourself, not just cleaning the sink.
