Hi!  

The first movie that comes to mind is Princess Mononoke, another wonderful Ghibli film.  Not sure if you’ve seen it already, but it has similar morals in a drastically different setting!

As for books…hmm.. I haven’t really had the time to do a lot of reading recently.. but there is a sci-fi novel I read called The Girl with All the Gifts by M.R. Carey that does involve a post-apocalyptic fungi-infested world, though it’s more about people than the environment.  If I think of anything more, I will be sure to update this ask, but for now, I will open the floor to my followers!

I’M SO SORRY I’M SEEING THIS NOW.  UGH EVEN WORSE I HAVE NO ANSWER.  

Though I will ask if you’re talking about Vol. 2 of the 7-volume series of Vol. 2 of the box set considering those are very different in regards to how much material is in one volume.  However, these events are somewhat familiar, so I’m guessing this is Vol. 2 of the 7-volume set?  Not sure though, I’ll need confirmation.  I also haven’t read the manga in awhile, so I’ll have to re-read and get back to you at some point.

WOW.  I’m so sorry that tumblr doesn’t notify me of asks for this sideblog anymore.  I sincerely apologize for not checking my inbox at all….  I personally have not seen much fanart based on the manga.  I think I saw a Selm one once?  It’s mostly the movie because I don’t think it’s particularly well known that the manga exists, let alone develops the plot further than the movie.  I would absolutely love to see the ones you’ve seen though, so please feel free to send them my way.

To be quite honest, I have no idea.  I know there were a couple in the soundtracks/ost tag on this blog that had an emphasis on synth.  I do know iTunes has the original soundtrack for sale and from the previews that I’ve seen they tend to be more 80s-ish in nature because they are the exact pieces from the movie itself.  If you’re looking for a free online upload source, then I am at a loss.  Perhaps Soundcloud?
