Could u share ur coming out story or experience?
Uhh. Yeahh!! Why not?!?!
So it took me over four years to finally admit to myself that I was indeed gay. And when I did admit it to myself, I basically "tested the waters" by coming out here on tumblr about a year and a half ago.
It went pretty well. So I started telling friends in my life. Some took it well, others were shocked, and some stopped talking to me.
One night I was talking to my mom about a couple of friends of mine who were dating at the time. And after a while, my mom asked me if I was gay and if I was, that she hoped I would have the courage to tell her. She essentially forced me out to her.
A couple months later, my dad and I got into a debate about business and giving benefits to gay and lesbian couples if gay marriage eventually passed. I got furious and eventually just blurted out that I was bi. I said bi because I wasn't sure how my VERY Catholic, business owning, SUPER conservative father would take it. I thought he would disown me actually. But he just said that he hoped that I wasn't rushing into anything and making my mind up completely. And then he said that he just wants me to be happy. And then he didn't talk to me the rest of the way home.
But eventually everything calmed down with them. And about three months after that, I decided that I didn't want to hide anymore. So I ended up writing a note on facebook to let my friends and family know what was up. I don't know of anyone who said bad things, but I found a lot of support in the people who are closest to me.
(Though it was sad because my note inspired a friend to do the same. She is Mormon and her family did not take it well.)
So if you need any advice on coming out or anything, I'd be super glad to help!! <3
What happened to the cute girl you posted about a week ago?
Ohh nothing is happening with that. I would much rather have her as a good friend. (: But I like being single right now. Even as much as I want to be loved by someone, I'm finally happy on my own. And that happiness is something I can't ignore. I need to embrace it and really learn to be happy as me for a bit longer. I need to be me before involving anyone else.
