A teaser from  @hellomelusine​‘ fic, You’re the Love I Know:

“Anakin Skywalker,” she speaks the name slowly, tongue rolling over every syllable. 

He tilts his head, standing up and brushing at his knees. “It’s curious, that you haven’t asked about him at all.”

“More curious that you never reached out to him, when he was so desperate for it, but you’ve shown yourself to me twice now.”

“I can’t change the past, and Ben found his way just fine on his own, maybe with a little help,” he tells her pointedly, “so we’re going to change the future.”

She gapes at him, mouth opening and closing and she’s sure she looks ridiculous, but he just smiles an easy smile. 

“You know, don’t you,” he says stepping closer, drawing up to his full height, foreboding even as a ghost. Rey takes a step back, reaching for her staff. “You can’t fight me, you know that right?” He asks, still sounding amused. 

“We’ll see,” she answers, the beam of yellow light splits the air between them, it’s sister blade igniting seconds later. “Tell me.”

“Not very Jedi like,” Anakin says with a disdainful sniff before smirking, “probably why I like you so much.” He waves a hand. “Put the weapon away Rey, I only have so much time left and we need to discuss my grandson further...The Jedi order of old is not who the Jedi became, in the beginning, there was the acceptance of balance within oneself, not the twisted thing it became before Palpatine and I destroyed them all. Balance. The force desires it, creates it. Was for a fleeting moment perfect.”

The silence stretches between them, he doesn’t need to say the words, but Rey knows them in her heart...and then Ben died.

“I can’t fix it,” she mourns, growing frustrated when Anakin smiles once more.

“Rey, I told you. Your journey wasn’t done. You and my grandson. You’re powerful, yes, but you exist in balance. Ben isn’t here.”

Rey glances around the room and gestures, agitated. “Tell me something I don’t know,” she snarls.

Anakin rolls his eyes. “You still have a lot to learn. Get your books.”

The next time she sees him, it’s in his solar. 

And she’s never seen him look so pale.

It’s only when she takes a step closer that she can see the bandages peeking out from beneath his half-undone shirt, and the bright red blood seeping through them.

Her eyes go wide.

“Why – why are you bleeding?” she says stupidly.

He looks up at her and gives her a small, wry smile.

“Tatooine,” he says simply. He shrugs, and winces at the fresh pain that small movement causes him. “The battle didn’t go as well for us as it did for you.” He closes his eyes. “As you know.”

He should've been an Alpha, like the rest of his bloodline. Dominant, strong, decisive. But to be Omega! Even the males, were meant to be silent, submissive, their lives dictated by their heats.

That’s what he thought; until he met her.

10) write in silence or with background noise? with people or alone?

I really like having white noise going in the background (coffeeshop white noise, etc.). But I can never, ever write while listening to music. Not ever. Too distracting.

I do like to write with people in online sprints. It’s probably the most productive I ever am, honestly, But that’s not really quite the same thing as writing “with people,” I don’t think. 

19) when it comes to more complicated narratives, how do you keep track of outlines, characters, development, timeline, ect.?

The most complicated fic I ever wrote was actually the first fic I ever wrote, about… errrr, six years ago now. For the Hunger Games fandom. It was over 100k words and INCREDIBLY detailed plot-wise, timeline-wise, gahhhh. I had a detailed outline and if it hadn’t been for that (and the fact that I was basically unemployed that year) I wouldn’t have been able to pull it off.

rey watched as leia’s form disappeared from sight. she let out a sigh and surveyed the debris before her. it had been a week since the first order crumbled for no reason and there was still a lot of wreckage to go through. intel suggested that there was some struggle among the upper ranks leading up to the sudden disappearance of the regime. a part of rey wanted to believe that ben had something to do with it, but the emptiness that settled in her chest didn’t lie. their bond had grown cold when the first order fell. it felt like frost bite. sometimes her lips and the tips of her fingers felt the ghost of ice before she shook it off. 

denial was poison to her. it made her believe that her parents would come back. she couldn’t go through that heartbreak again. she had to accept it now. 

This was a great excuse for me to write another sentence:

Rey takes hold of his elbow and they walk, skirting the dead bushes, in companionable silence until Ben asks her, “Talk to me about your relationship with my mom.”
