MONSTA X’s Wonho is a man full of love, and Monbebes had been firsthand witnesses to it. Not only did he shower fans with adoration, but he also spread kindness with his interest in donations, charity, and volunteer work – which had deeply inspired Monbebes.

No matter how busy he was, Wonho often took the time to help others by supporting charities, organizations, and causes. One of the many examples of this is how during one of his V Live broadcasts, he shared about the Hope Ring he got from UNICEF for his support to the For Every Child, Hope cause and encouraged fans to take part in it as well.

With this, Monbebes showed how they were inspired by the singer to help make the world a better place in their own ways through the project #WonhoTaughtUs. Picking up from his support to campaigns in line with reassuring a better future for children, among the heartwarming acts which emerged from the #WonhoTaughtUs project was a huge donation to the organization Save the Children under Wonho’s name.

After starting the collection of pledges last November 30, the drive had already achieved over $4,275 (based on our first check on December 9, 2019). Together with their donations, fans also shared how their hearts were moved to follow Wonho’s acts of kindness in his stead.

STRAY KIDS LITERALLY MADE FANS SCREAM ALONG WITH THEM IN THEIR NEWEST COMEBACK TRACK!

Stray Kids has made another intense comeback, with the lead track of their newest album Clé 2: Yellow Wood, titled “Side Effects”.

The nine-member boy group did not fail to amaze their fans once again with the overflowing power they displayed in their latest comeback video and track released on June 19.

The music video contains a visual overload courtesy of everyone in the group who roar with their individual charismas all throughout. In fact, fans who do not want their bias lists wrecked shouldn’t even dare to watch “Side Effects” – because Stray Kids guarantees that they will sway and wreck their opinions.

Moreover, the video’s cinematography and visual effects used in the video also notably make itself eye-catching and apt to the song’s title.

QUICK SONG REVIEW

For the song itself, as usual, Felix went for the kill with his deep voice while Chan and Seungmin slayed everyone with their vocals. SKZ’s rap line also easily owned another comeback track with their hard-hitting verses.

Besides giving a better recall, the repeated line “My head hurts” matched with powerful screams in the chorus also made way for the part’s intense choreography to take the center stage.

The simple chorus actually also makes sense when lined up next to the rest of the song’s lyrics. “Side Effects” actually talks about the repercussions – or as the title implies, the side effects – of a decision that one makes.

With lines like “I threw myself with trust in me, but why am I being swayed?” and “Maybe it hurts more because I thought it would be easy”, one could tell that the song talks more about the dark side of these repercussions – the ones which deal with pain and suffering.

Both the music video and the song itself also remind listeners of the group’s previous tracks like “District 9” and “Hellevator” thanks to its distinct rhythm and beat.

With the song’s lyrics written as usual by 3RACHA (or members Bang Chan, Changbin, and Han), who also co-composed the song together with TAK and 1Take, “Side Effects” definitely lives up to the Stray Kids brand and image that fans love.

THE K-POP INDUSTRY HAS BEEN HOUNDED BY ISSUES ESPECIALLY REGARDING THE TREATMENT OF IDOLS THAT FANS CONTINUE TO BATTLE WITH – AND IT IS TIME PEOPLE LISTEN TO THEIR WAR CRIES.

In the earlier years of K-Pop, it was branded as a genre of “manufactured music” – along with “manufactured artists” in the name of idols who have to show and maintain a certain image for the “approval” of the general public, or their fan base. Everything in their power must be done to adhere to what other people want – even if it sacrifices their humanity, identity, and well-being. They are puppets, one can dare say, because they are not allowed to be a person of their own – nor a real “person” at the very least.

But it’s 2019 – and things have changed.

Over the years, fans have stopped putting K-Pop idols at such high pedestals and realized that they too are just humans like us. Humans, who have emotions. Humans, who get tired especially when overworked. Humans, who experience frustrations and hardships. Humans, who make mistakes. Humans, who can date and fall in love. Humans, who can grow and learn from their shortcomings.

How hard is it to acknowledge that they also “change”? Is it a word that the public is allergic to? Just like every human being out there, surely, some idols might have done things that are stupid, immature, and reckless – but hasn’t every ordinary people done so too?

The argument of “they are idols – people look up to them so they should be careful of what they do” doesn’t even work anymore, because there are many of them who get attacked for things that they had done prior to pursuing a career in the industry. People love digging up their past whether as trainees or even way beyond that – and for most idols, these things happen in their teenage years, a period where normal people are branded to be immature, irresponsible, and reckless.

Although of course, cases may differ as to whether there were other lives affected by their actions because having hurt someone else physically or mentally is another issue, the world cannot just claim that a “bad” person cannot change. More so when the said person had shown remorse and proof that they had changed over the years – along with never repeating and committing the same mistake they’ve done before and working to become a better person as they go forward.

Where are the people who always claim that “we are not who we were yesterday, or the day before that, or the day before that” and that “our past does not define us”? Please, throw the rock of accusations and hate at someone if you’ve never done anything wrong in your life ever in the past.

Idols are not disposable items that anyone – the people, their “fans”, the media, and most especially, their companies – can just discard any moment they want to. They are not robots who anyone could just program what to feel and how to act like – and then disassembled when they don’t work the way others want them to. They are not mannequins suddenly brought to life in the snap of a finger – they have families, they had past lives, and they have flaws which they worked on to overcome and develop from.

MONSTA X decorates New York’s famous Times Square with billboards for their WE ARE HERE World Tour!

The boy group has been lighting up the busy streets of The Big Apple as they showed off the fun MONSTA X concert experience on the huge screen greeting the American crowd over at the Line Friends New York Times Square Store!

Combining footages from their ongoing WE ARE HERE World Tour, the billboards easily catch attention with the sneak peeks of the septet’s amazing performances along with their charismatic stage presence.

According to Naver V Live, the billboards will be on display from August 1 to 10. Monbebes who already got the chance to spot the display shared their excitement and delight on social media.

Fans outside of New York also got to see a glimpse of the display in action through a short clip shared by the group on their SNS account as well.

These are all in line with their upcoming show in Los Angeles at the Staples Center, which is set to be a huge concert that many Monbebes already anticipate.

With the huge excitement surrounding the show, Starship Entertainment and Naver V Live will be offering a livestream through video-on-demand service.

The broadcast will begin at 7 PM PST on August 10 on time with the Los Angeles show’s start, which falls on August 11 at 11 AM in Korean standard time.
