The Hellhound: To Hell And Back (part 2) (Jordan Parrish imagine)
A/N: In case you missed it, here is the first part of this story. Enjoy !
The police sirens reverberated through the streets as several cars parked around the pack. The officers, the coroner and even forensics were already rushing into the house.
Ā« Hey dad! Ā» Stiles greeted his not so happy father as he walked to them.
Ā« Why am I not surprise to see you here ? Ā» He ironically responded.
Ā« If it brings any comfort, we didnāt really plan to find a dead body tonight Ā» His son added, grinning at the end of his sentence.
Ā« Can you please stop saying āādead bodyāā? Ā» Y/N told Stiles.
He gave her a comforting smile before turning to his father.
Ā« Before you ask, we donāt know what happened. We just found her. Ā»
Ā« Anything supernatural I should know about ? Ā»
Ā« Probably, but weāre not sure yet Ā» Scott answered.
The Sheriff took a look behind the boys. Y/N was still shaking, she could not keep her eyes focus on anything and she seemed ready to collapse any second now.
Ā« Is she alright ? Ā» He asked.
Scott pursed his lips, taking a step toward the policeman.
Ā« Sheās been through a lot tonight, could we ⦠could we give you our deposition tomorrow so we can take her home ? Ā» He spoke.
Ā« Under any other circumstances I wouldāve said yes, but Iāve got a dea⦠» He stopped when he saw Y/N picking at his words. Ā« ⦠A body and a couple of kids who found themselves in a house where they shouldnāt have been. Ā»
Ā« Cāmon, dad, seriously ? Ā» Stiles complained.
Ā« Iām sorry but Iām gonna have to ask you to come with me to the station Ā»
Ā« Could we just bring Y/N home first ? Ā» Lydia asked.
The Sheriff hesitated. He looked at the kids then turned back to his officers.
Ā« Is Parrish here yet ? Ā» He demanded.
Y/N instantly raised her head, the familiar name alone bringing her comfort.
Ā« Just arrived, Sir Ā» One of policeman answer.
Before he could ask them to call him, he saw his deputy urgently getting out of his car, not even in his uniform, and rushing to the pack. He didnāt acknowledge his boss, or even the teenagers around him, but just went straight to what mattered the most to him, Y/N.
Ā« Are you alright ? Ā» He frankly asked, checking for any sign of physical injury.
She faintly nodded.
Ā« What happened ? Ā» He inquired, turning to Scott for an answer.
Ā« We were getting there Ā» The Sheriff told him. Ā« Where is your uniform, Parrish? Ā»
Ā« Iām sorry, Sir. I ⦠I forgot. Ā»
Ā« You forgot ? Ā» He raised an eyebrow.
Ā« I just rushed to my car when I heard the call on the radio. Ā»
The Sheriff seemed to ponder his answer before he turned to Scott.
Ā« You three Ā» He began, pointing at Lydia, Stiles and the alpha Ā« Youāre coming to the station with me. And Parrish ? Ā»
Ā« Yes, Sir ? Ā»
Ā« Get the girl to her house. She look like sheās seen a ghost Ā»
Ā« Thatās an understatement Ā» Stiles muttered, earning a small punch from Lydia. Ā« Ouch! Ā»
Ā« Shut up! Ā» She told him in the same tone.
Stiles rolled his eyes, already on his way to the jeep. Before leaving, Scott and Lydia both turned back to their friend, wanting to make sure she was alright.
Ā« Everything is gonna be okay Ā» Scott assured her, patting her shoulder.
From anyone else, she surely wouldnāt have believe them, but she knew her alpha and trusted him with her life. She thanked him with a nod before he left to join Stiles in the jeep.
Ā« Iāll come tomorrow Ā» Lydia told her.
Ā« Iām sorry I scarred you Ā» The young girl whispered.
Ā« Honestly, Iām just glad you were not hurt Ā»
She kissed Y/Nās cheek and turned to Parrish.
Ā« You better take good care of her Ā»
Ā« You know I will, Lydia Ā» He promised. Ā« Thanks for calling me Ā»
The girl nodded, ignoring the persistent look her friend was giving her.
Ā« You called him ? Ā» She asked, more aggressively than she intended to.
Ā« Youāve been through a lot, Y/N Ā» Lydia explained. Ā« Just for a couple hours, allow yourself to stop overthinking everything and let him be there for you, okay ? Ā»
She didnāt answer, only rolled her eyes and crossed her arms.
Ā« Good. Ā» The red hair smiled. Ā« Iāll see you guys tomorrow Ā»
And with that she left. The atmosphere was awkward, she didnāt dare to speak and instead followed Parrish to his car in silence. They didnāt talk. For the five minutes the drive lasted, they kept starring straight ahead. She couldnāt stop thinking about the girl she saw. Was she really a ghost ? What was she trying to say and why did she scream ? There were so many questions rushing inside her head.
« Y/N ⦠» Parrish gently called.
They had stopped for a couple minutes but she hadnāt notice, so engrossed in her own thoughts.
Ā« Are you alright? Ā» He asked.
Ā« Yes⦠yes, Iām fine Ā»
Ā« You donāt look fine Ā»
She pursed her lips and got out of the car without a word. As she walked to her house, she realized he wasnāt following. He was still behind the wheel, watching her.
Ā« Youāre not coming ? Ā» She said.
Ā« Iām not sure I should Ā» He answered.
He cursed at himself when he saw the look of hurt crossing her face. Instantly, he opened his door and walked to her.
Ā« Itās not that I donāt want to, Y/N. But you didnāt seem happy about Lydia calling me Ā» He explained. Ā« Youāve had a rough night, Iām not gonna stay if thatāll make you feel even worse Ā»
She starred at him, trying to hide her smile before finally raising her arm toward him.
Ā« Cāmon Ā» She just said, silently inviting him when she opened the door.
He didnāt waste any time and grabbed her hand, following her inside. He made no move when she walked to the kitchen, taking her jacket off and tossing it on a chair. He simply watched as she got two glasses and a bottle of scotch.
Ā« Tea, coffee or alcohol ? Ā» She asked.
« Coffee, please. » He answered. « ⦠Should you really be drinking ? »
She rolled her eyes.
Ā« Rough night, I deserve a drink Ā»
He pursed his lips, not wanting to add anything thatāll make her angry. Finally, he went to sit on one of the kitchen stool. She kept herself busy, giving him her back. She looked stressed, almost scarred, and while she didnāt notice her composure fading, Jordan did. He worriedly kept his gaze on her, trying to read into her expressions.
« Y/N ⦠» He called.
She didnāt answer, but instead kept working on making his coffee. He sighed, knowing it wouldnāt be easy. He got up, walking to the teenager. He could have put his hand on her shoulder, a small sign of his presence for her, a sign that didnāt represent at all what they meant to each other; but instead, his hand went to her waist as his chest got closer to her back. This was the closest they had been and both of them were savoring that proximity.
Ā« Are you alright ? Ā» He whispered in her ear.
She tried to ignore him, fixing the coffee machine instead until he put his other hand on top of hers in an effort to make her stop. She closed her eyes, breathing deeply, enjoying the feeling of having him so close, of feeling safe for the first time that night.
Ā« Talk to me Ā» He said.
She unconsciously leaned back against his chest, seeking comfort.
Ā« Iām scarred Ā» She admitted.
He squeezed her hand, silently showing her he was here.
Ā« What happened ? Ā»
They stayed in the same position as she told him what had happened. She closed her eyes as she remembered the girl, alive to her but oh so very much dead. She could practically still hear her, feel her pain, her loneliness. She had tried to say something, to reach out to Y/N but all the girl could remember was her scream. She sounded terrified.
Ā« I just donāt get it, Jordan Ā» She said. Ā« What is happening to me ? How did I saw all that ? Ā»
Ā« I donāt know Ā» He answered.
Ā« Do you think somethingās wrong with me ? Ā» She muttered as a single tear rolled down her cheek.
He took a step back and grabbed her wrist to make her turn toward him.
Ā« Hey, there is absolutely nothing wrong with you, Y/N Ā» He vehemently told her, looking right at her.
He sighed when he saw how unconvinced she looked. He closed his eyes for a moment, going against his best judgment, and put his hand against the skin of her face. Stroking her cheek, with all the kindness he could mustered, he kissed her forehead.
Ā« Weāre going to figure it out Ā» He promised.
Ā« You donāt know that Ā»
Ā« I know I trust you. I trust us. Thereās nothing this team hasnāt been able to overcome Ā» He reassured her.
Ā« Thank you, Jordan Ā»
Ā« Iām just doing my job Ā»
He knew he had said something wrong when he saw her pursed her lips. She took a step back, reaching for the small cup of beverage she had prepared and silently handed it to him.
Ā« Your coffee, deputy Ā» She stated.
« Y/N⦠» He tried to apologize.
Ā« You donāt have to stay. Ā» She told him while busying herself behind the kitchen counter. Ā« Nobodyās after me, Iām safe here Ā»
Ā« I donāt think you should stay alone tonight Ā»
Ā« As soon as the guys get back from the station Iāll ask Lydia to come Ā»
Ā« It might take a while Ā»
Ā« Iāll manage on my own until then Ā»
He didnāt try to arg, he knew it would be useless. Whatever he had said to make her upset, he couldnāt take it back now and she fully intended to make him regret his words.
Ā« Do you really want me to leave ? Ā» He asked, almost fearing the answer.
Ā« No, I donāt Ā» She truthfully stated. Ā« But Iām not a job you need to get over with, Iām not some cases youāre trying to solve. Nor am I a responsibility you need to carry Ā»
Ā« I never implied any of that Ā»
She didnāt answered, remembering his words. She was too tired to have that argument with him. They had been there too many times, she had tried to make him admit his feelings on countless occasions.
Ā« Youāre relieved of your duty, deputy. You can go now. Ā»
She didnāt wait for an answer and left the room. Shaking her head as she climbed the stairs to her bedroom, she convinced herself she had experienced enough in one night to be bothered by that interaction. It would have been too much to process all at once. She would deal with Jordan and her feelings for him, but not that night. It was when she climbed in her bed that she noticed the small light outside her window. She took a quick look and saw the deputy in his car, still parked in the alley. He hadnāt left. Sitting inside the engine, he was guarding her house, he was protecting her. She smiled when she saw he, too, was getting sleepy. She almost felt guilty to have kicked him out of her house. She stayed a while against her bedroomās window, just watching the man, before she felt her phone buzzing next to her. It was a text message, from the deputy.
āYou can sleep now, Iām not going anywhereā
It was all the assurance she needed. She let herself fall back on her bed, closing her eyes, savoring the moment of peacefulness. She knew the day that would follow would not be easy. Questions to answer, leads to follow, worry to have. That full night of sleep would probably be the last one sheād have for a while.
She woke up a couple hours after that by a noise downstair. Somebody was in her kitchen and she knew it wasnāt Jordan. He wouldnāt have come back without her knowing. She got up, slowly, and grabbed the baseball bat Stiles had offered for her last birthday. Trying not to make any noise, she walked down the stairs, hands grasping tightly the weapon.
Ā« Geez, what are you doing with that, Y/N ? Ā» She heard not far from where she was.
Instinctively, she screamed in fear, dropping the bat, the sound of it reverberating inside the house as it touched the floor.
Ā« What the hell, Stiles ! Ā» She shouted at him when she noticed who it was.
The teenager smirked, amused by her reaction. He walked past her, picking the weapon up on his way.
Ā« Told you itād be useful Ā» He simply said.
She rolled her eyes, annoyed, and turned around. Lydia was fixing breakfast in the kitchen while Scott sat on the couch, researching something on a laptop.
Ā« What are you guys doing here ? Ā» She asked as she sat on one of the stool.
Ā« Making sure youāre okay Ā» Lydia answered, putting a fresh cup of coffee in front of her friend.
Ā« And accessorily trying to find out what happened yesterday Ā» Stiles added.
Lydia pursed her lips, glaring at him in a non-so subtle way.
Ā« What ? Ā» He told her, a pancake halfway in his mouth.
The ginger-haired girl shook her head at his childish behavior. Scott, still on the couch, got up and joined his friends.
Ā« How are you feeling ? Ā» He questioned Y/N as he put a comforting hand on her shoulder.
Ā« Better. Still not fully understanding the situation, but less on edge than yesterday Ā»
Ā« Thatās good. Ā» Scott nodded. Ā« They kept us pretty late at the station, otherwise we wouldāve come back earlier Ā»
Ā« Itās fine, guys Ā»
Ā« By the way, wasnāt Parrish suppose to stay with you ? Ā» Lydia inquired.
Ā« Yeah, what happened exactly ? Ā» Stiles added, crossing his arms on the counter right next to her.
Ā« What do you mean ? Ā» Y/N pretended not to understand, sipping on her coffee.
Ā« Donāt play dumb with us Ā» He smiled. Ā« The guy was asleep in his car when we got here Ā»
She knew there was no way she was avoiding this when she saw three pairs of prying eyes on her.
« Okay ⦠» She sighed. « I might have ⦠kicked him out ⦠last night »
Ā« Ouh, rough Ā» Stiles joked before his friend kicked him playfully in the ribs.
He laughed it off before grabbing a plate and filling it with pancakes.
Ā« What did he do ? Ā» Lydia asked.
Ā« Said something he probably regret Ā» She shook her head.
Ā« He stayed in his car all night to keep an eye on you Ā» Scott told her.
Ā« I know⦠Itās ⦠itās complicated, guys. Ā» She explained. Ā« I donāt want to talk about it. What happened at the station ? Did you find anything ? Ā»
Ā« We know who that girl was Ā» Scott answered.
Ā« Her nameās Anya Scortley Ā» Stiles continued. Ā« She was a junior at Beacon Hills. Ring any bells ? Ā»
Ā« Not at all. Ā»
Ā« She didnāt live in the neighborhood where her body was found. Her parents have been notified last night. They came to the station Ā»
Ā« It was heartbreaking Ā» Lydia commented.
Ā« They didnāt even know she wasnāt in her bedroom. They have no idea what happened. But she has a little sister, and she didnāt seem that surprised by the news Ā»
Ā« Do you think sheās involved ? Ā»
Ā« Canāt be sure for now Ā» Scott explained. Ā« What we need to figure out first is what you saw Ā»
Ā« What do you mean ? Ā»
Ā« We donāt know whatās happening to you yet, but maybe figuring out what you see will help us understand what you are Ā»
Ā« What I am ? Ā» She repeated.
Ā« Honey Ā» Lydia carefully stated. Ā« Normal people donāt have vision of dead people. Maybe itās something that happened to you, or maybe something you were born with. We donāt know yet, but we do know there is something. You are something Ā»
Ā« Something else than human Ā»
Ā« Something more Ā» Scott corrected.
He reassuringly smiled at her.
Ā« Whatever it is, we are going to find answers Ā» He promised her.
Ā« But the only way to figure out what happened to that girl right now, is through you Ā» Stiles said.
Ā« I ⦠I donāt know if I can Ā» Y/N carefully answered.
Ā« Close your eyes, and try to remember Ā» Lydia encouraged her.
The teenager took a deep breath, already knowing she wouldnāt like the next couple of minutes.
Ā« How ? Ā» She fearfully asked.
Ā« Forget the pain you felt. Let your brain go back there without apprehension. Think about blank pages, about writing her story. Moment by moment, write what you see, what she felt. Ā»
Y/N slowly closed her eyes, trying to follow the instructions her friend gave her.
Ā« I heard a voice first Ā» She started. Ā« I thought it was the wind until I realized it sounded like someone was whimpering. I felt cold and scared and it felt like ⦠like those feelings were not mine. The more I focused on it, the more my head was hurting. And thatās when I saw her Ā»
Ā« What was she doing ? Ā»
Ā« Nothing. She was just standing there, pointing at the empty house. She looked at me and disappeared. When I looked back, she was in front of the house. I tried to get closer, and thatās when she started to scream. It was like ⦠it was more than pain. She was in agony .. and I ⦠I felt a sharp pain in my stomach. Almost like someone was stabbing me Ā»
Ā« Did you notice something else ? Maybe in her appearance ? Ā»
Ā« Hm .. she had ⦠she had marks on her wrists. Scars. There werenāt knew. I saw it when she raised her hand toward the house. Bruises too, around her neck and on her arms. She was awfully pale and I swear she muttered something to me, but I canāt make out the words. I think it was a name. She said it with so much fear Ā»
She opened her eyes, shivering at the memory.
Ā« Thatās ⦠thatās all I remember Ā» She told her friends.
Ā« This is more than enough, Y/N Ā» Scott reassured her.
Ā« Is that how she died ? Stabbed ? Ā»
Ā« Yeah, every detail you gave were right on point Ā» Stiles answered. Ā« On a scale of basic to creepy, weāre on a solid what the fuck Ā»
Ā« Geez, thanks for the reminder Ā» She rolled her eyes.
Ā« What do we do ? Ā» Lydia asked, turning toward their alpha.
Ā« For now, we go to school. If she was a student there, thatās a good place to start Ā» He informed them. Ā« After class, weāll go back to the station. See if they know more Ā»
Ā« Why do I feel there is more Ā» Stiles added. Ā« We have to go back to the house, tonight Ā» Scott told them.
Ā« I was hoping you wouldnāt say that Ā» Y/N made a face.
Ā« We might have missed something the police didnāt see Ā» Stiles agreed with his best friend.
Ā« Everythingās gonna be fine, donāt worry Ā»
Ā« Thatās the problem, Scott. I have a feeling somethingās gonna go terribly wrong Ā»
