Sorry, I'd like to note something: if Rai didn't specify that they were raised together as brothers (and you see the two of them as babies in the same crib in the manga) it'd make sense... but considering Rai is also Mao's brother, where is she supposed to be in all of that? :O

not to mention the fact that in the anime they were explicitly not just the three of them but also gaou and kiki: five of them. kiki may be younger than her, but gaou is older, and yet she doesn’t call him -nii. and again, rai also specified he was the one who was supposed to get the tiger (remember they’re raised as brothers), but instead he constantly had to compete against rei, and rei only. it’s too strange for their dynamic to be “just friends”.

well idk anything about the manga, but in manga ESPECIALLY i wouldn’t take them as real siblings since they, well, are a canon couple,
