there are a few steps involved with emulating and patching a game! i’ll walk you through it as best i can! 

(BEFORE WE START: probably the most vital tool to use for this process is winRAR if you don’t already have it! most of the files involved are zipped, and can’t be opened until you’ve unzipped them. winRAR unzips them for you by right-clicking and selecting “extract to [folder name]”. another important thing to know is to use an adblocker and antivirus! emuparadise going down means we are cast to the four winds with regards to finding ways to safely emulate, so be careful! my final piece of prologue advice is to download all the following files to the same folder - it makes finding and locating them much easier!)

first of all, you’ll need an emulator to play it on! i usually use visualboy advance for GBA games. download the .ZIP file, right-click on it and click “extract to VisualBoyAdvance-M”. once it’s unzipped, you’ll have a shiny new folder. the emulator is inside, it’s the VisualBoyAdvance.exe file! just click on it, and you’ll have a fully-functioning gameboy on your computer.

second of all, you’ll need the ROM itself! i can’t provide this to you or i’ll face a slap on the wrist from marvellous, but a quick google of “harvest moon friends of mineral town ROM” should do your work for you. do the same process with unzipping as you did with visualboy advance, and you’ll have a shiny new copy of friends of mineral town.

here’s the part where people can get stuck - the patching! first of all, download the patch from here. the next thing you need to do is download lunar IPS, which is the software that applies the patch to the game itself. 

open lunar IPS! it will show you a window that looks like this

you’ll need to click on apply IPS patch! this will prompt you to select the patch (which is the IPS file you downloaded before.) it will then prompt you to select the ROM itself, which is the .gba file inside of the ROM folder you downloaded. 

hey presto! you have a fully-patched copy of harvest moon: true love edition!

open up visualboy advance. click on file, open, and then find the .gba file you just patched. it will start running! if you click on options, hover over “input” and select “configure”, you can change the button control mapping to whatever you’re comfortable using.

Haha you know what’s funny; I actually read your post about it yesterday after I went lurking in the phasma tag just to see if anyone else shared my feelings about it (I didn’t even care if I saw spoilers because I don’t care about the book enough to be scared of spoilers) and I have that post still open in a tab so I could come and whine about the book to you later XD

I do! I adore the part of stuff that’s touching the pan (so side/corner pieces of cakes/brownies) so the bottom is the BEST to me! and I prefer froyo and sorbetto cause milk in store-bought products makes me sick ;; they will have to claw Jason’s Deli’s ice cream from my cold dead hands tho!! I will never give that up!!

yea, that really sucks. but if that's the mentality she has, the conversation most likely wouldn't have been as helpful as you were hoping/expecting, so maybe it's a blessing in disguise?

though, try a test. see if you can reblog any of her posts. send it to your drafts. if you can, then the message thing is a glitch. if not, then that’ll confirm you’ve been blocked. that’s how I always check.
