Pruned buddleja down to height of restraining string/hedge. Tidied up the overflowing bits of ivy and cleared up the Avenue. One hellabore has flowers, some anemones are out, but lots missing and couple of primroses only visible. Basically a pigeon catastrophe.
Pruned the frost damage out of Helmsdale and Marshwood. Pulled out the 2 Aldi lavenders that were dead from the Island Bed, think Fathead’s bought it too.
Cut down the stalks of the verbena bonariensis (also got the seedlings out of the plastic coldframe as I’ve killed most of them and the rest of covered in greenness. Took the yarrows and echinaceas? that I got end of last year out of there too).
Weeded the strip of pointlessness (teasels doing well there) and the Red Bed. Cloched the peonies so I don’t trample them.
Cleared and weeded the Tango Bed and Blue & Silver Border. Cloched the 2 catmints and 2 of the eryngiums as so small don’t want the slugs to annihilateg them.
In the Avenue, finally planted up the two Blue Metallic Lady hellabores, by the bird feeder post. Split the Forget-Me-Nots that had clumped up and gave it a good weed. By end of day everywhere weeded except for Tango Bed. Red Lady hellabore in red bed is in bud. Anemones in Avenue also flowering.
Took stray black cow parsleys, Blackcurrant Fizz poppies and cornflowers that have started sprouting from lavender border into wee pots to grow up.
Pruned buddleias (already had nice new leaves). Then did some more leylandii so that all I could read is cleared from overhanging. Used neighbour’s bin fo rall the branches. Leaving a few to cover the sunflower border and part of veg patch to try and pre-empt cat toilet time. Took off some dead branches from stoechas lavenders in the island bed.
