Wilhelm: “You seem troubled. Are you alright?”

It was odd to see Yuli this awkward in his approach, especially towards Wilhelm. It was a stark contrast to his usual confident self but the demon lord understood where he was coming from once he realized what Yuli had approached him for.

“Hm, I haven’t.” He gave a direct answer, folding his arms as he recollected the last time that he had even heard of the forest witch… Honestly, it had been quite some time and Wilhelm wouldn’t be surprised if she had returned to her reclusive ways.

“Now, why do you ask?” Wilhelm further inquired, a bit curious as to what sort of business Yuli had with Trifoli considering the distance between the two.

The awkward feeling of regret now plagued Yuli’s mind after he’d asked his question. Admittedly it had been ages since the vampire had last seen the Queen of Clubs; even if he were to meet with her, he wouldn’t be surprised if Trifoli had already forgotten about him.

His face was still half-buried within the folds of his sweater’s collar, his eyes now averting to the side when Wilhelm answered his question. “Oh.” was all the vampire could say, silently berating himself for even thinking that his adoptive father would have a favorable answer for him. “I see.”

Yuli frowned, not wanting to have to deal with the wretched Prince of Pride himself, not after experiencing an intense heartbreak. Rche must have a knack for picking the best times to show up.

“ …Well, now that it’s come to this, I suppose I ought to explain. ”

Wilhelm cleared his throat, opting to step in-between the problematicvampire boys to ensure that he’d be the mediator in the situation. He then began by finally introducing the vampires to each other.

“ Yuli, meet the next head of the Sakuma clan. Rei, meet my adoptive son. ”

There was another vampire in the manor; he could smell it. Was it a visitor? If it was, then Yuli wouldn’t have minded, but the scent was so strong, it’s like its owner had been staying in the manor for days, at the very least.

Yuli got his chance to finally meet that other vampire, chancing upon the visitor when he dropped by his adoptive father’s household for a visit. And yet, even though it’s a visitor, Yuli felt the need to stand real close to Wilhelm, as if asserting his position as the main vampire in the manor.

I am supposed to have learned much by now! What will he say if he finds out that...that I have been lagging behind?! I will be a disgrace in his eyes!”//- //”Act normal, act normal. Yuli:- “…I see that old man is also here. …Hmm? Ah, no; it is nothing. It is not like I am expecting him to come and greet me. …What? What do you mean ‘is that what I wanted’?? That is not—I-I do not miss my old man—!! …Geh, did he look over here…? If he sees me, I am blaming you!”

Since Yuli was prohibited from calling Wilhelm ‘father’ or anything similar during his early childhood, he ended up turning the casual nickname ‘Wil’ and the ruder ‘old man’ into some sort-of code words for ‘Dad’. He’s waiting for the moment Wilhelm realizes it, if ever.

Yuli’s first teething toy was actually Wilhelm’s mask. Parado came to Wilhelm’s rescue later with an experimental ‘chew toy’, which sadly wasn’t as durable as the bone mask. Parado wasn’t one to get discouraged easily though, and treats the whole situation as a fun experiment, much to Wilhelm’s chagrin. As a result, Yuli grew up with an exceptionally strong set of jaws.

After being taken in by Wilhelm, Yuli had actually believed that the bone mask was Wilhelm’s actual face. So, when the demon lord’s real face was revealed, it took the little vampire quite some time to recognize him, and it involved plenty of face touches, which Wilhelm wasn’t fond of. Yuli was eventually convinced of ‘this strange man’s identity by the scent of his blood.

Speaking of blood, Wilhelm ended up preparing baby bottles filled with blood to feed Yuli, including the demon lord’s own. However, that didn’t stop the little vampire from biting him whenever hunger got to the baby first before Wilhelm could get a bottle out.
