tj has so much guilt but she tries her best not to let it get to her.
most of it is from when she was little because her mother was literally terrified of her powers, and when people are scared, they tend to lash out in defense. most of the time, her father could step in and defend her, because thalia never saw the need to defend herself — it’s her mother, she shouldn’t have to. but after her dad died, she was left with a mom who hated her and a grave being filled.
she feels guilty for two reasons ; she feels like there was something she should have done to make her mom understand and not feel so afraid, and she feels guilty about letting her father die. there was nothing she could have done at the time, she was too young and too inexperienced with her powers. it isn’t until later on that she realizes her powers can heal people too.
her father’s death drove her to become a nurse. a lot of her work helps her get through the grief, but she gets overly attached to patients, and the ER is too unpredictable sometimes. some patients are fine within the day, whether she heals them or not, and others have fatal injuries and don’t always make it. those are the ones she feels guilty for the most, whether it be because she wasn’t there to save them or because she couldn’t heal them.
