When Wu Xie asked Hei Xiazi to go to Chengdu at Wu Sanxing's very belated behest, the mercenary wasn't at all surprised to find that the people he'd been sent to find had long since been murdered. What he was surprised to find was that one of them was decidedly less dead than initially thought, and that he was now to secretly guard them.
When Liu Sang escaped death six months before and hid by concealing his abilities and working in a tiny noodle shop, he figured everything would catch up to him sooner or later. What he wasn't expecting was the incredibly annoying customer that he had to put up with in the meantime.
What I really love about rarepair exchanges is that it gets you to read ships you might not have considered before. Like this one. This was fantastically written and I loved it.

There are only four, which hardly seems fair to them, even if one is flashing around some kind of firearm as if it were actually dangerous, and making vague expletive-laden threats in Russian.
In which Xie Yuchen and Hei Xiazi are inconvenienced by a group of muggers, and Hei Xiazi is absolutely going to pay for the dry cleaning.
This author writes these characters SO WELL. This was wonderful. It's tender, sweet, sad but also badass.
