“I hate you so much.” Her words are contradicted by the death-grip hug that Mari draws the other into. There is a tremble that shakes through her entire body and settles in her tense shoulders. Relief is slow to seep into her veins. “When are you going to start being more careful?” A bold question to ask considering that she tends to be just as risk-taking. She hates this feeling of vulnerability, longs to rid herself of the chokehold that the other holds over her heart. Letting the other go, she pushes against their shoulders. “Next time you wind up in a situation like this, don’t expect me to swoop in and save you.” It’s an empty threat, as she knows that she would never be able to truly abandon them.
