the thing with comparing our current administration with the nazi movement is that the legitimacy comes from that in the comparison it isn’t supposed to be like 1940 germany when they are already rounding up the jews.  the argument it takes into account, unlike this comic, is that there was like a solid decade of the nazi party having significant influence before ww2 where there was a build up to genocide. my grandfather had swasticas placed on his desk in highschool by 1926, fucking 1926 man.

because when you get to it the parallels are there staring you in the face. the commonality of a failing moderate conservative regime promoting a figure from the far right to appeal to the aggrieved populace is shared by the GOP and hindenburg's administration. for god’s sakes trump kept a book of hitler’s speeches with him.  the stunningly similar rhetoric about mexican americans and the call backs to a golden age of america that never existed is all too clear that this coincidence or not is inspired by fascist movements of the 20s and 30s
