I'd really like to read the ballad of songbirds and snakes, and I was planning to reread the hunger games after I'm done with my current book. If you're done reading or whenever, would you rec it? Is it any good?
I finished the book a few hours ago! I liked it a lot and I'd definitely rec it! It really showed how much Snow had a hand in keeping The Hunger Games alive and how he changed so much about the Capitol and the Districts. The games are completely different, because he hasn't shaped them yet, and it's really cool to see how he gets the ideas to change them. The book definitely gives you insight into why he is the way he is by the time we meet him in The Hunger Games series. I like that although you feel bad for him at points, you never take his side, and by the end it renewed my hatred of the character. I'd definitely recommend it, but I guess go in knowing that it's really a departure from the trilogy in terms of tone and characters.
Re: GRRM, I'm mostly concerned its taking him so long to come out with TWoW because what does that even mean for the final book?? How can he not be working on the final book already?? I pray for his continued well-being and health so he can keep writing!! Rectify the bs of the last season, Dani deserved better, Jon deserved better, we deserved better! (sorry for ranting)

The Kate Daniels series is a dark urban fantasy, is about Kate a mercenary that lives in a Post-apocalyptic Atlanta and has to deal with shapeshifters, necromancers and other creatures. It is my favorite series right now and I love everything about it.
It is written by Ilona Andrews, their books are full humor and action, if you are looking for something not so dark and more romantic then I recommend the Hidden Legacy.
One of the main best things about the authors is how well written their romance is, and ofc their world building is mind blowing.

I really just want people to read what I've written and enjoy it as much as I have? Tho the dream would be to be a full-time writer where I can sit home all day and write forever, you know?
I definitely get that. I guess Wattpad probably isn’t that because it’s mostly casual readers who may comment (or not) and if they do it’s usually just like “I really liked this” or whatever. Inkitt has a review/rating system where like people review and can actually invidiually rate parts of your story like plot, punctuation/grammar, and other stuff I’m forgetting however I don’t think Inkitt is all that popular.
For more concrete feedback I’d probably recommend trying to get into a writing network or finding beta readers. Idk if there are any writing networks active these days but they used to be a thing. There’s also writing tumblr group chats to find individuals who may also be able to help/give concrete feedback?
Honestly I’m kinda full of myself imo and think my writing is pretty decent/good (for someone so young, unpublished, and never trained in an educational setting) so I just post with reckless abandon usually. Like I’ll read the chapter over once and be like “ok done” and post. Or send screenshots of pieces as soon as I’ve written them trying to get that sweet validation™️ to anyone who has the misfortune of being friends with me. I pester them. I am terrible.
The dream is to definitely be a stay at home writer. My cats would approve of the quality time.
