Hector-related headcanon time!

I've read somewhere, but can't for the life of me find it now, that gods would typically sleep with mortal women before they were married. So Hecuba conceived Hector by Apollo, and told Priam on their marriage night who then raised him as his own. Apollo loved her so dearly, however, that later down the line they had a second child — Troilus — whom Priam treated as his true-born son.

(Side note, but I’m developing a desire for a Apollo/Hecuba/Priam polycule—)

I imagine Hector (as in Philostratus) used to keep his hair short until the birth of Astyanax, when he vowed he would not cut it until the war was won... only for it to flow in the dust as Achilles dragged his body
