Daniel was in the process of trying to get the fuck out of dodge when he heard Armand call out to him. Oh fuck that. Daniel said to himself, the message on his computer was enough warning to him to get out when the getting was good. He heard him say it again and he knew he should have left, he should have listened but he stopped and turned back to Armand.

𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐥 half a mind that does not care much about his actions ----- he's on a tour currently exposing vampires laws &* lore , completely ignoring every reason not to. his mind has been erratic for over forty years -- since he believed he'd lost louis too , that night in september. when @hechose hadn't told him what was happening. hadn't told him if louis perished. 𝚑𝚊𝚍𝚗'𝚝 𝚝𝚘𝚕𝚍 𝚕𝚘𝚞𝚒𝚜 𝚑𝚎 𝚕𝚘𝚟𝚎𝚍 𝚑𝚒𝚖. 𝓻𝓮𝓿𝓮𝓷𝓰𝓮 for that damned trial -- a 𝖏𝖆𝖇 at the fact he'd won louis. LIES , but when stacked against lestat's sins . . . he'd thought he was doing the right thing , leaving louis in softer hands than his own.

( at least it would keep louis away from lestat. 𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒕 𝒅𝒊𝒅 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒅𝒆𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒆 𝒉𝒊𝒎. louis was smart enough to figure out the lies. maybe when he did , 𝚕𝚎𝚜𝚝𝚊𝚝 𝚠𝚘𝚞𝚕𝚍 𝚋𝚎 𝚠𝚘𝚛𝚝𝚑𝚢 𝚘𝚏 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚝𝚛𝚞𝚝𝚑. )

❛   ah , pardonne-moi , monsieur -------- ❜ a pale , slender digit is raised to stop a mortal man's rambling to one side of lestat , then his cool gaze departs to find amber , the faintest of smiles curling rogued lips. there is something so unmistakably feral in the way he looks at @hechose. his smile is inviting , but his gaze cannot hide the pulse of his temper. a riptide as blue as his irises dares the other to step in &* lose his footing.

The question in itself sounds odd enough to warrant an upturn of brows, a slow-blink to emphasize mild surprise. Or rather, confusion. Armand obviously doesn't know whom he's talking to, otherwise he'd know such a question to be completely redundant. Unless he does and merely tries to rile him up.

However, Cain's nonchalance breaks with a crooked smile peeking through his beard. Genuine amusement. Maybe there's a pinch of taunt. " That's... ", cue his head tipping to one side. " Adorable. I'm afraid you have the wrong fellow. "

" fuck you - " words were spat out, bitter and venomous as one arm was outstretched, finger pointing in armand's direction. he'd known - he'd known that as soon as he saw armand's face, saw his smug fucking smile and those bewitching eyes that he'd be completely fucked, but somehow feel better at the same time and that... that pissed him off even more. which... mix that with the current state he was in? drunk and high on god-knows-what... it didn't make for a pretty picture.

he'd said he wouldn't be coming back. he'd said he'd never come back here to the island, to armand. claimed that he was done with this whole thing, and he'd meant it. at least, he thought he'd meant it.

but then when he went back out into the world, on his own... he never truly was on his own, was he? because all he could ever think about was armand. like he'd wormed his way under his skin, fixed himself a place in his mind, one that daniel couldn't escape from. hell, he'd go far enough to say that armand put some sort of spell on him, made it so he'd always think about armand, always see armand... and it drove him mad. caused him to fill himself with poison - the drugs, the drink, anything to try and dull all that he was trying to distance himself from. but it never truly worked, did it? it never got rid of the frustration and desperation and yearning... it just made it worse.
