this album is sooooo good! i was honestly so shocked when i first heard it because it was so different from other taylor albums (musically!), but now tbh it sounds to me like a classic taylor album!!! i loooove all the lyrics and the stroytelling, and the country-ness, and the folky-ness, and how it introduced aaron to us as taylor's producer!! SUCH a great album!!!

bonus: i heard mirrorball as a surprise song and screamed "i've never been a natural, all i do is try try try" with 70k people and loooooved every second of it!

Happy folklore anniversary to you too 🩶🩶

Folklore is my comfort album. Whenever I'm stressed or just in need of a break and I play this album, I instantly feel like I have been transported to some other world, where the skies are always grey and the grass always green, and the weather feels exactly like a summer afternoon right before it's about to rain. I love it so much! To me this is her best work, all the stories she is telling and how they have their own fictional world but also are inspired from real life (all art is...in a way). I love the love triangle songs, I love the imagery in my tears ricochet of a ghost attending her own funeral, the comparison between a soldier in a war and doctors working day and night during the pandemic, her singing about screaming while standing at a cliffside, PEACE!!! She said I am a storyteller and I'm going full storyteller mode on this one.

I would love to rank this album but it's the hardest task in the world (wdym I would have to put a song at the bottom??), so I'll tell my top 5: cardigan (my no. 1 taylor song!), seven, invisible string, august and the lakes. I also feel like I am one of the few people who are absolutely obsessed with epiphany 😅.
