poetry tip: turn your profound thoughts and feelings into senses. if your chest aches when you dont feel good enough, and your poem is about not feeling good enough, my chest should ache when im reading it too. if your heart is empty when youve given up, my heart should also feel barren. dont just say "ive given up", then add a profound thought and expect people to relate. add senses. the senses dont necessarily have to describe a setting either. its not about that. the senses are used to describe the feeling. poetry isnt about saying things that make your readers say "mood" and then move on. poetry is about submerging your readers into a life, or experience, or feeling they havent lived yet. or maybe they have lived it. either way. poetry is evidence of being alive, not just deep thought.
