american gods, a formerly SWINGING adaptation of a muchly beloved neil gaiman novel that appears to be going off the rails on this fine day thanks to executive meddling and drama behind the camera that has left the show in freefall leading into its second season.

So far, the only place Loki has known to go is up.

The city frightens her, in a way, with its endless dark corners and empty buildings and broken-hearted neon lights the likes of which she had never seen before, her world as old as it is; or was. If her absence has led it to ruin, she does not know. The comforts are few. There is the bright moon overhead, where she feels the heart of her lover beat in unsteady, yearning time, and there are the creatures of shadow that seem to spawn so infinitely from every blind spot in her vision.

They come to her: they do not harm her. Ansem left his mark upon her, maybe, and that mark has called her through secret pathways into this world in the place between, and the dim, roiling light of the sky overhead has guided her tired feet upward through the city, to the edge.

The ground breaks away eventually and fades into an abyss, and the castle hovers above, supported by nothing, surrounded by nothing. If Loki were to guess... perhaps it is empty, too, but it's still the only thing she's found to suggest that she isn't alone in this dark world. Yet, there is no path.

Even behind her, the few Heartless who have dutifully followed her steps balk at coming to the precipice. She cannot blame them; the feeling of falling rushes up from beneath, though for a moment she has a mad imagining that if she were to jump, some unseen current would bear her upwards. What manner of place is this?

In Hollow Bastion, Ansem had managed to make such a foreign world seem like home. Without him now, she belongs nowhere, and without him, the task of making a path where there is none seems so much larger, but she has done it to come this far. The heart-moon hangs so high above, and the castle is the closest thing to such a great and impossible distance.

She hasn't bent her will upon opening a corridor in what seems like too long, but Loki can still reach into the realm (the memory of Ansem lingers there, and its touch is warm) and call the sprawling darkness to bear her where she wishes. At the very brink her door opens itself, and when she steps through, maybe it's like falling down, down, down forever—and the next moment she stands upon a tower, like the tower he prized her away in so long ago.

She hasn't fallen, but risen far above, the glaring yellow light of the moon bathing her. It’s as close to his heart as she has been in so long, but the realization that it’s still so terribly unreachable could ruin her.

My Opinion on; HEARTVORTEX / XEMNAS

Character in general: I HAD MIXED FEELINGS ON XEMNAS, cause like…as a hero baby ‘ buh your mean … stop being mean — GOD HE’S ALREADY DEAD, LEAVE HIM ALONE ‘ to now where I am just like ‘ fuck, he was a go hard wasn’t he ? ‘ A lot of Xemnas’ story was a sad one, to me he was probably one of the few villains that could have those relatable moments because despite doing the wrong things for the right reasons, he was still trying to grasp an understanding of his role given. There was always a job, a role and need to fill and regardless of his feelings on how those duties were to be completed, they would be regardless of what got in his way. Even if he was to be the last one standing, he would see to the fruition of his plans with a cruel and meticulous hand. How they play them: I’ve spied here and there on some of your threads and despite your divergence, there is so MUCH beauty in your language of how you play Xemnas ! There is a level of humanity that absolves from the ‘ nobody and nothing ‘ nature of his character, he is utterly charming and charismatic in ways that extend beyond chopped and curt interactions. Which to me is such a super interesting dynamic to his nature, being someone who stands and rises above all yet still seeks the comfort and company of others around him to escape the prison of isolation. I love reading your different thoughts on his mannerisms and goals of whats important to his mission, and all of these soft and unspoken actions that further expand upon the person he is. The Mun: We’ve chatted briefly here and there but I THINK YOU ARE VERY SWEET ! You’re always such a fun presence on my dash that I enjoy seeing around, and have fun interacting with on the chance I can !

Overall Opinion: I think your Xemnas is a wonderful expanse to the multifaceted nature of his character, he is wonderfully defined by these very visceral and human emotions despite himself which is always such an amazing display through your writing. You are a wonderfully pleasant addition to my dash and I super appreciate having you around !
