Entry for Summer Siesta event

I can understand trying to separate the art from the artist, whether it result in defending the creation, or simply taking solace that your own objective experience with said creation has not been affected. As, though games do not exist in a vacuum you can, at least, try to experience them as such.

I can understand wanting to defend the creator, either out of the nostalgia one had enjoying their content, or fear that the accusations may be overblown - or even false. I would not agree with you, as I have had such desires with previous incidents and, through introspection, found that said defense was merely to deflect the blame from my past self. To exaggerate immensely, “No, I have not committed evil in supporting whom we now know is a heinous individual, no! In fact, you are the evil one for this slander upon their good name! How dare you wish such ill will upon them! I have the moral high ground, Anakin!” ...Ahem, but I could at least understand you.

And, I can understand wanting to cut all ties to the creation entirely.

What I can’t understand is the droves of people who kick down the door at the first glimpse of any opportunity to “own the minorities,” spending money on a product they do not even care for. Because that’s what ties those three responses above together - deriving value from some art, some content, some creation. Take a look at the steam reviews for HEARTBEAT. Or, actually, don’t. It’s horrible. Just look at the amount.

So many gushing positive reviews on October 1st, all of people making the same inane comments on their .1 hour reviews. All with 300+ users finding their review helpful. Sure, you can see people gushing about how they loved this game but can’t find it nearly as charming anymore. Because a game that carries itself on its charm loses a lot of its value if the creator behind it isn’t so charming.

These reviews have dozens of people saying that their review is funny.

But I digress - more people have reviewed the game on October 1st than any other individual day the game’s been out. Most of these people are, of course, here for the sale. A sale that is almost certainly a dogwhistle, given how every other comment references this number.
