Here's a headcanons template for all of you. This is for the writers and oc builders I guess.
❓Name - Does their name mean anything special? Do they have a common name? Have they changed their name? If so, why? Do they like their name?
❓Eye color - Do they have a natural eye color? What shade? Do they change color with different light sources? Do they have heterochromia? What makes them noticable? Do they shine in the light? Do they carry the emotions that the character can't always express out loud?
❓Height - Pretty straightforward but you can expand on this with how they compare to other characters on a height scale.
❓Hair - Do they have a natural hair color? Do they dye their hair? Is their hair curly or straight? If curly, what type of curls do they have? Do they have to do a lot of maintenance for their hair? Do they style their hair a certain way that could be considered a 'staple' for them? Do they ever have that 'just got out of bed' look?
❓Sexuality - Pretty straightforward. You can also how their gender may impact their sexuality as well in cases where a character may be nonbinary, trans, generfluid, ect.
❓Clothing style - Do they have a sense of style? What's the most comfortable style for them to wear? Do they dress to stand out in a crowd? Do they accessorize their hair? Do they like jewelry? If so, what kind of jewelry do they wear? Do they have an artical of clothing that they just can't leave the house without wearing? Do they thrift clothes or do they like to buy clothes brand new? Do they wear hand-me-downs? Do they have expensive clothing tastes? Are they brand loyal? Does the clothing they wear affect their personality in any way?
❓Temperment - Are they usually very calm? Are they quick to anger? How far does someone need to go to really piss them off? What happens when they do become angry?
❓Negative Traits - Ever character I write for has one or more 'negative' traits to make them more relateable in some way. Example: Are they arrogant? Are they one to procrastinate? Are they hotheaded? (Know that not all negative traits can be negative to others who view them.)
❓Positive Traits - This is pretty straightforward. Example: Are they punctual? Do they believe in second chances? Are they optimistic even when the situation is grim? Are they approachable? (Know that not all positive traits can be positive to others who view them.)
❓Family - Do they have a tight knit family? Do they have any close family members they can rely on? How's their relationship with their parents? How's their relationship with their sibilings (if they have them)? Do they have a family member they hate? If so, why? Is their family fractured? Are they the last remaining member of a family lineage?
❓Trauma - Have they experienced any adverse childhood experiences? Were they neglected, abused, or hurt in any way as a child or as an adult? Do they have scars left behind? If so, are they physical or mental scars? How does their trauma make them react to otherwise normal situations? Does it effect their self-esteem? Do they have triggers? What happens when your character is put right back into the situations they experienced before, will they do anything differently?
❓Illness - Do they experience mental or physical illnesses? How do these illnesses effect their day to day life? Does it impair their ability to interact with other people? Do they think differently than other people do, to the degree that other people notice it? What's their views on medications? What's their view on doctors?
❓Memory - Do they have a hard time remembering things? Do they have a near perfect memory? Do they remember specific events differently than other people? Do they have memories that positively or negatively impact their day to day life? What memory do they hold near and dear to their heart? How do they remember people who have passed on? Do they do things to honor other people's memory? If so, how and for who?
I don't know if this will be helpful in any capacity but since I've been having trouble even finding a template to help me write regardless, here. This is just some of the stuff I think about, I can't possibly write it all down in a single post.
