Head Candy - Starcaster [1991, Link]
Early '90s alternative rock, with some fun guitar-work and soft vocals. The drummer keeps things moving along pretty well, but he doesn't get many chances to show off, as the guitar dominates most of the songs. There's some grit to the instruments, giving it an easy-going early grunge feel. As with a lot of releases in this style, the only lyrics that really remain in the memory are the repeated phrases of the choruses; despite this, the grooviness of the guitar riffs and licks make this a respectable showing for Head Candy's first and only album.
Someone pleeeeeeeease write this!!!
Just had a beautiful and delicious idea... Wet!Hook, in the pouring rain, outside Emma's apartment (balcony or fire escape); hammering on the window at Emma - who is smirking inside, because she threw him out into the rain without his clothes. Then I pondered "what happens next" and it was obvious : Our Captain is not ashamed of his looks - one can assume he might be quite happy to walk through Main Street butt naked on his way back to the Roger... :P I will totally give virtual cookies and absolute love to anyone who writes this :D

day four: uncle tupelo and head candy: one of the best things about being in the midwest in the 90s was getting to regularly see a group of revolving bands. mercy rule... poster children... gear daddies... hols... and of course uncle tupelo. in fact... tupelo was the first band i ever saw in a bar (had to borrow a friends ID to sneak in... that show's flyer will be posted soon). these early tupelo shows were so great. just the three of them... playing really honest... really great music. head candy was a great band from iowa city... they also had some success...
