I was unpacking the events of yesterday with my mother. I left out all of the satanic shit, obviously. Mustn't freak out the elderly Catholic woman. But, the spark notes were the same. She even knows the friend that stopped talking to me, we were very much real life, they've talked to my family, friends. She said something really wise that hit me like a mack truck:
"Sometimes people help you, but the thing they wan't in return isn't love, it's control."
Okay, damn, Mom. How did you learn that as a Kindergarden teacher? What were those children doing? JK, she contains multitudes, too. I just keep ruminating on that idea. I am no longer giving away control as currency. You find me valuable, or you do not. You find my practice valuable or you do not. I do not control you, and you will not control me, so if our paths diverge let's not make the goodbyes too sorrowful. Sometimes a last goodbye is a gift in hindsight.
