Day #104
I want to read a LCF x Assassination Classroom crossover only for the sake of seeing OG!Cale interact with the principal.
They would fight and OG!Cale would win because he's such a little shit and fears exactly one thingâ and manipulative assholes aren't that.
Principal Asano (whatever his name was) would have an aneurism trying and failing to intimidate him.
This brat (because any version of OG!Cale would kick his ass, but teenager!OG!Cale would be funnier) not only isn't affected by his bloodlust (he grew up around Ron, that was rather pathetic), he can see through his manipulations and plotting as if he was reading a bookâ an easy one, at thatâ, and had been going in circles around him since he entered through the door!
What is worst, he has been switching back and forth between almost calling him out and playing dumb since he tried to use one of his usual tactics with him. He's laughing at him insideâ he knows it.
He ends up giving Asano a nervous tick.
So, AU where teenager Og!Cale transmigrates to AssClass worldâ maybe he appears near Karasuma's colleagues so he has to deal with him (because whatever God that delivered him knows that kid needs a responsible adult around)â and proceeds to take it really well. Can't say the same about some people (cofcof Asano cofcof) who fucked around him and now find out.
Meanwhile, Karasuma is very busy with his job, the supersonic octopus, getting his teaching license, and the strange kid with self-esteem issues that crossed worldsâ who's now living with him.
Curiously, helping Cale to accommodate to a whole different world and society is the less difficult task out of all of them. The hardest part so far was explaining him why his happiness and reputation isn't a "good price to pay" for someone else's wellbeing.
(Although the talk about "why exposing yourself to any nocive substance was a bad idea even if you have a great tolerance or immunity to them, and therefore, is forbidden" had been a close one. Seriously, why does he knows how poisoned food tastes like?)
The greatest joke unmade
Takuya dried his hands and hung the towel over the handle to the oven. Turned around and looked towards Kouji, who was sitting at the table working on his laptop.
âItâs Goncharovâs 50th anniversaryâ, Takuya said.
Leaned casually against the countertop, tried not to smile too widely. Kouji looked up from the laptop, glanced at him.
âWhoâs Goncharov?â
âItâs the greatest mafia-movie ever madeâ, Takuya couldnât hide his grin. âI was thinking we could watch it?â
Kouji stretched, closed his laptop and shrugged.
âSure, why not? Didnât know you liked mafia-movies.â
âBecause I only ever watch football?â
Takuya wrapped an arm around Kouji, leaned down and kissed him. Kouji rolled his eyes.
âYeah, because you only ever watch football.â
He pushed Takuya away, stood up. It took him a few seconds to find his balance and Takuya was ready to reach out if it was needed. But Kouji found his footing, carefully aligned the prosthetic leg with the rest of his body. It was a new one, less affected by heat or cold, and Kouji was still getting used to it.
âFootball is the greatestâ, Takuya agreed. âDad made me watch Goncharov when I was like 12, itâs my guilty pleasure.â
âNever heard you mention itâ, Kouji said and grabbed the laptop.
âI also never mentioned that porn-movie I watched when I was 14â, Takuya said with a grin.
Kouji rolled his eyes again, whacked Takuyaâs head with his hand.
âWeâre not watching porn. Iâll agree to Goncharov though.â
âThank youâ, Takuya said and gave Kouji another kiss. âYou set it up and Iâll prepare snacks and drinks.â
âJust no alcohol for meâ, Kouji put the laptop on a smaller table by the door. âMesses with the new pain killers.â
âNo alcohol, got it.â
Kouji left the kitchen. Takuya slapped a hand over his mouth to hold the laughter in. He couldnât give it away yet, he needed to see how furious Kouji would get looking for the movie. He grabbed bowls, put a pan with oil on the stove. Made popcorn and filled one bowl with that, filled the other with chips. Grabbed two big glasses and filled with soda before putting all of it on a tray.
He swore he could hear Koujiâs voice. Was Kouji talking to someone? Had he called Kouichi to help him find the movie? Was the gig up?
âYou want pie or something?â Takuya called.
âPie sounds good!â Kouji called back.
Takuya grabbed a pie from the freezer, put it in the microwave. He would have heated it in the oven if there was more time, but he was pretty sure the joke would be over in about 5 minutes and heâd better be ready to ask for forgiveness. Pie was a good step towards that.
The pie was almost done when he heard music. Takuya blinked. The Goncharov main theme. He swallowed. Had Kouji figured it out and was trying to trick him back now?
He put the pie, a pair of plates and spoons on the tray as well and went to the living room. The television was on, the intro to Goncharov playing on it. Takuya almost dropped the tray.
âWhatâs this?â he asked.
âGoncharovâ, Kouji said.
Nonchalantly, as if it wasnât super-weird that a movie that didnât exist was playing on their television. Did he find a fake trailer or something? Takuya put the tray on the table. How⊠he didnât even know how to ask.
âHow did you find it?â he asked.
âI didnâtâ, Kouji sounded so frustrated. âMatteo had to help me.â
Koujiâs eyes shone. Takuya swallowed. It had to be a trick of the light, but all the lights were turned off.
âMatteo?â
âMatteo JWHJ0715â, Kouji explained and sounded exasperated. âHeâs the god of movies that doesnât exist.â
Takuya blinked.
âThe what?â
Wait.
âKouji, Goncharov doesnât exist.â
Kouji blinked. The light in his eyes disappeared and he tilted his head. Frowned.
âHuh. Well⊠that does explain why I couldnât find it.â
Takuya put a hand over his face, laughed.
âI love you. Youâre an idiot and I love you. Iâm fucking morosexual.â
âYeah, yeah.â Kouji patted the couch. âDid you want to watch it or not?â
Takuya laughed again, sat down in the couch.
âDo I want to watch the greatest mafia-movie never made? You bet!â
He grabbed a piece of pie and leaned against the back of the couch.
âAnd afterwards youâll have to tell me how you got the god of movies that doesnât exist to give it to us.â
Hirano to Kagiura "Photograph" Extra Analysis: Hanzawa and pictures
This extra is the one where Hirano and Kagiura are taking pictures in their room. I normally skip the extras, but this one confused me, so I'm talking about it. More specifically, Hanzawa confused me. I don't think I'm the only one who found it odd that Hanzawa deleted the picture of Hirano smiling. So let's find out why he did that!
I've actually got three questions I want to answer:
Why did Hanzawa have a loaded silence when he saw the picture?
Why did Hanzawa delete the picture?
Why did he say that Kagiura should be more careful?
I feel rather certain that none of these things are because of any bad intentions. The moments just before and after Hanzawa sees the picture has the fuzzy-happy-feelings-spheres:
I also think that to understand Hanzawa here, it's important to remember some of the things we know about him from Sasaki to Miyano:
He's very good at recognizing romance.
He worries a lot about gay relationships (remember, this is before sasamiya has reassured him that you can be happy in a same-sex relationship).
Here's what I think his reasoning is:
In regards to the loaded silence when reaching the picture:
I mostly think that's mostly because it's unusual to see Hirano that happy. But I also think that he recognized at least the potential of romance between Hirano and Kagiura in the picture. Because that helps explain why he deleted the picture.
Hanzawa, while not personally against same-sex relationships, is very aware that those relationships are very difficult because of how they risk people reacting to them. I think he's trying to protect Hirano and Kagiura from that kind of scrutiny by deleting the picture. Whether or not they're actually in a relationship kinda doesn't matter â it's that, as far as Hanzawa is concerned, it's better for them if everyone around them thinks that they're totally platonic roommates and nothing more.
It's also why he's saying Kagiura has to be careful â he's the one who took the picture and thereby risked showing the non-platonic side of them to the public (though, given the fingers on the picture, it probably has the double meaning that he should keep the fingers from the lens when he's taking pictures). But he is happy to see his friend happy, which is why the page is filled the happy-feelings-spheres.
This reading, that Hanzawa is trying to protect kagihira from scrutiny, also explains something I've wondered about in ch.10:
When Hirano tells his classmates that he wakes up Kagiura every morning, while everyone is shocked, Hanzawa is the only one who's reacting in the panel where Hirano says it â everyone else first reacts on the next page. I've always found that odd because if Hanzawa didn't know, why did he react before everyone else? If he did know, why did he react like that? But if we read Hanzawa as trying to protect kagihira by keeping people from thinking that they're more than roommates it makes a lot of sense. Hirano might be completely oblivious to how out of the norm his and Kagiura's relationship is but Hanzawa isn't. So Hanzawa diffuses the situation before the classmates can look too far into it.
(Given some of Hanzawa's other reactions in Hirano to Kagiura, I think he'd currently prefer it if kagihira didn't get together because he wants to spare Hirano from the bad parts of it. Mostly, though, he just wants his friends to be happy â which sometimes include making others overlook the not-so-platonic part of kagihira's relationship.)

Why Not Me?
Chapter 4
[Ch. 1] [Ch. 2] [Ch. 3]
-/-
When theyâre nearing the path to the childrenâs home â the lamps already doused for the evening, of course â Jingyi stops. âHanguang-Jun?â he asks, and the man turns around silently to look back at him. âIf nobody wants me, will I have to leave Cloud Recesses?â
âNo.â
âBut Iâm a bad disciple. Bad disciples arenât allowed to stay, are they? They have to find somewhere new?â
Hanguang-Jun comes and kneels in front of him, his expression grave. âDo you wish to leave Cloud Recesses, Jingyi?â
His vision swims with fresh tears just at the thought of it. âNo!â
âYou are wanted, and you do not wish to go. You will stay.â
Jingyi finds that extraordinarily difficult to believe. He doesnât say anything to contradict Hanguang-Jun, though, instead he just nods and keeps his gaze on his feet until Hanguang-Jun stands again to drift down the path to the door. His knock on the wooden frame is gentle but Jingyi still flinches at it, aware that now he has once again become a burden on the aunties who will have to get up after theyâve already gone to sleep just because of him.
It takes a few long, painful moments, but then thereâs a flicker of candlelight behind the paper on the windows and in the next breath the door is sliding open to reveal the youngest of the aunties in her sleeping clothes, her hair loose around her shoulders. âHanguang-Jun? Is something wrong? Has something happened?â
Hanguang-Jun says nothing, he merely steps aside and Jingyi flinches where heâs still standing at the end of the path, his gut curling with discomfort. He watches the auntieâs expression harden into disappointment when she spots him, the candle in her hand throwing the lines around her frowning mouth into deep shadow.
