Born to a teen mother, Allegra was never considered a blessing. Her father didn’t want to be involved, and left to complete his degree a few months before she was born, leaving seventeen year old Claudia to raise a baby on her own; a responsibility she wasn’t ready to face.

A year passed, before Allegra was dropped to her grandmother’s trailer with the excuse her mother needed someone to watch her while she was at work, only to never be seen again. She took off, with a much older guy who promised her the world, leaving her daughter behind.

No phone calls, no letters. Ever since she could remember herself, her grandmother was the only constant person in her life. Stella took the responsibility of raising her, teaching her the best values in life and more importantly, loving her like she was her own daughter. Like Allie always liked to say, the trailer was small but full of love.

Growing up at the trailer park was both a blessing and a curse. Allegra was always known as the kid without parents -- the abandoned one, and was often bullied at school.  

She was fifteen when her father reached out. He had a new family, new wife -- new kids and a new perspective in life. Or so Stella thought, when he allowed Allegra to go and stay there for the summer. Not only she was back at the trailer park in a week, but her relationship with her father wasn’t going to improve after his wife’s mistreatment.  

Despite her hard upbringing, Allegra graduated with high honors; wishing to make a new start and leave high school behind. By that time, her grandmother’s health was deteriorating with the woman being in the early stages of dementia. This was exactly the reason why young Allie decided to study hard in order to get a Bachelor of Science in Nursing; hoping that she could care for the only motherly figure she knew.

Unfortunately, by the time she graduated and was able to understand more about the disease, Stella was diagnosed with Alzheimer's.

Allegra tried her hardest to care for her grandmother, but her condition worsened to the point she needed twenty four hour support. The decision was a hard one, but Allie eventually had to place her in a nursing home. Now, she visits Stella regularly.

She still hasn’t heard from her mother. Her relationship with her father is not the best to this day, as his wife would constantly mistreat her when he wasn’t around, prioritising her own children’s needs and excluding her from most things. He calls every once in a while to check on her.

Because she is paying for her nana’s retirement home, Allie is still staying at their old house, which she would love to renovate at some point. 

She has an amazing voice but hates any attention. This was the reason why despite winning a singing competitions and 10,000 dollars, she quit right after. Nowadays, only close to her people know about her talent.

grew up with her mom and older brother, dad never in the picture and never more than a name to her — her mother wasn’t the best at being a mother, so to speak, was always infinitely more interested in dating or job opportunities and not her kids

because of this, sydney and her brother grew up very independent and very close to each other, essentially parenting themselves and the other 

sydney had a hard time spreading her wings and flying away from her brother because that was her comfort, but if there was anything that could steal her away ? relationship

she had a very skewed idea of what relationships looked like thanks to her mother, tended to jump into things very seriously very quickly, only for it to end just as fast. most relationships, platonic & romantic, were typically very surface level

went to college at uw tacoma, majored in business administration

wasn’t really? interested in it, was an easy way to float through school while filling her social quota & working odd jobs on/off campus in order to help her brother pay rent for their tiny apartment in seattle

was way too proud & stupid to go back to her brother bc he had called their demise, felt too much like her mother’s daughter, and needed a fresh start in order to feel somewhat like her own person

moved to heartsdale and took over a small business in suffix mills, turned it into a bakery since sis stress bakes

has been in town for 4-ish years 

originally from suffix mills but moved to l.a when she was twenty to pursue her dream of being an actress (daddy’s a famous retired actor so that helped)

was hella successful for like, seven years and scored hella movies and was really good at her job. shot all around the world and lead to four movies which she also helped write 

former best friend got jealous that dal scored a role she didn’t and started spreading rumors that she was an avid substance user, slept around to get her roles and had affairs with married crew members. 

dahlia is still not aware that her former best friend is the one who went to the news, only that ‘a trusted source’ had leaked everything 

scandal went viral and because she took too long to issue an official statement, her career was pretty much destroyed and her reputation as well and she started spiralling down 

it was practically impossible to even get out of her house without being harassed by the press and she was started at and pointed at by what seemed like all of l.a and so the only logical thing was to do was leave

she came back to heartsdale with her head down, now working at her mom’s art gallery and feels like a failure

she lives in the apartment above the gallery and has spent the past six months moping around and being sad and depressed

goes by fox, no one knows his real name and no one calls him felipe (unless plotted otherwise ofc)

grew up hella poor, parents were absolute trash and had him super young and so the next best thing after going to school and getting an education was…becoming a thief/burglar

hence the nickname, he made himself a lil reputation and lived the double life for a while

mechanic with his dad by day and con man by night, he’d send the shiton of money he’d make to his grandma who lived in georgia and all was well, as long as no one really knew

until someone rat him out and he got four years in jail when he 19 (he honestly deserved more for all he did but still was pissed he got caught) 

early release bc his grandma passed and long story short, he got all the money he accumulated and sent her over the years +  inherited her house in suffix mills and his grandpa’s bar (paloma’s) 

moved to heartsdale when he was 24 and immediately took over the bar and moved into his late grandparents’ house 

lives in suffix mills now, owns paloma’s, bar named after his grandma and is a meanie mean dude who keeps to himself but will help old ladies cross the street and let you in after hours for free drinks if u look a bit sad

a chicago native. ira is the son of a detective and a veterinarian, and the eldest child out of two. he took the first opportunity he could to hightail it out of the city when it presented itself ---that came in the form of his parents divorcing when he was 13.

his younger brother stayed with their father in chicago while ira went and lived with his mother and step-father in maine. it was a sleepy change, and a nice pace away from consistently turning on the tv and hearing about the crime rate ... or hearing it at the dinner table with his father talking about his case load.

perhaps ira began to flourish more without the consistent presence of his father: less time keeping his hobbies and interests to himself in lieu of feeling pressured to conform to his father’s wants and desires, more time to discover his own avenues of self ... he was always a bit of an odd boy but kept it so tightly under his thumb that he didn’t quite feel as if he had his own personality until he was away from home.

attending mortuary school was not a thought during his childhood, at all. initially his interests lay with forensic science but he was turned off from the idea of involving himself with crime with his father around. the first 13 years of his life seemed to tip the scales drastically in favor of what he’d do with his future more than the time away - the damage had been done.

always an observant individual, ira learned how to apply that into some form of charm or charisma as he got older. people were easier to talk to, to get to leave him alone if he added a nice smile ... if he said a few nice things to butter them up along the way out the door.

his preference for the mortuary sciences (or rather, working with the recently deceased) comes from the same place his initial interest in forensic science came from --- he prefers the company of the dead. they’re quiet and non-judgmental. he can work at his own pace (within reason) and essentially be left alone to do so. while there’s less discovery with this avenue, and while part of the appeal of forensic science was helping with cases, ira at least takes solace in knowing that he provides a measure of peace to the grieving families. he’s alright with that.

he only recently moved to heartsdale (within the two years) because of his brother’s passing - having learned that levi escaped chicago in his early 20′s and had moved down to the sleepy georgia town. perhaps because it was off the grid ---luck had a job opportunity pop up in atlanta, an hour and a half away.

you can find him at work pretty much always. he’s taken to throwing himself into his business to settle out with having to deal with the emotions of loss: he may have had a strained relationship with his brother, but he’s still bothered by his death. it’s an added bonus that he’s actually quite talented at the mortuary sciences.

some fun small facts:

very good with his hands, be it fixing things or making them or tinkering in general. he prefers to do most housework himself. sink broken? he can fix it in an afternoon. wall need sheetrocking? he can do it. car need fixing? he’ll do that, too. it comes with being a self-appointed loner, honestly.

lived in vermont before being called to heartsdale. he plans on going back home as soon as he can, as soon as his brother’s estate and affairs are officially settled.

was in a relatively serious relationship with a woman he’d met through work for about five years. they lived together, and he’d planned on proposing to her, but it didn’t quite work out. they barely spoke thereafter, but were mostly amicable when they did. since then he’s been more of a one night stand kind of man, with little interest in opening himself up again.

has a cat he took from home with him. a little black cat named nyx.

wears glasses when he’s home, otherwise always has contacts in. you won’t ever see him with his glasses on unless you drop in unexpectedly on him.

Having grown up the child of a negligent parent, Isa learned very soon how to do things on her own. Her mother was always too busy living the life she felt she deserved and would otherwise be missing out on had she never gotten pregnant so young in the first place. As Isa got older, she would notice on her solo subway trips to and from school the interactions between children and their parents and never understood why that had been something lacking in her life. These observations would cause the girl to question the relationship she and her mother had, and when unsatisfactory answers were given, Isa would push her mother more for answers that made sense, but that only led to arguments. Over the years, Isa’s observations led to more complex questions that only led to pain and regret in the end. However, despite all the tensions that arose between Isa and her mother, she loved her nonetheless. She was after all the only family she had. However, one night when her mother came home on a bender, the two had the worst fight of their lives, and in the end Isa finally decided to give up on trying to make things work with her mother and moved out. Having the feeling of responsibility for her mother’s well-being at last falling off her shoulders gave her the ability to breathe an air of relaxation for the first time, and with this new found freedom, Isa is more than ready to figure out what she’s meant for. She still has no idea what that might be, but she’s completely ready to see where life will take her.

Her father is pretty much non-existent due to the fact that her mom slept around a lot (still does actually) and can’t remember who he might’ve been  

Hasn’t spoken to her mother since she left home, and changes her phone number every couple of years to make sure she can never get a hold of her.

Since Isa’s not sure what she’d like to do with her life, she figured using a temp agency to find her jobs was the best way she can explore many different work environments and industries.

No matter what the temperature, having a cup of dark hot chocolate sprinkled with pumpkin spice just about always puts her a bit more at ease.

Takes a long time to let people in, but once you’re in? She’d take a bullet for you.

THE DETAILS

born benjamin elias walker to a working class, happy, loving family in heartsdale, georgia. he is the oldest of 3, his 2 younger siblings are sisters named shawna and eleanor.

growing up ben was a jock, into all the sports: football, baseball, basketball, and dirt bike racing. throughout school (jr high, high school, and college) football was his main sport.

went to the university of georgia on a football scholarship. ben was a running back that gained a bit of popularity and fame as a powerhouse player. he set some records, was a heisman candidate, and was set to go pro with the NFL but it wasn’t his dream.

ben’s dream was moto gp. his love for racing, cars or motorcycles, came when he was a preteen and kept growing until he couldn’t imagine a life not involved in it in some way. his dad put aside some money and with a business loan, not long after ben graduated from UGA he opened up a garage where he designed racing engines along with the cars and motorcycles themselves.

it took some time but the investments and vision paid off. ben was big on the racing circuits attending when and where he could without sacrificing family time both because of his passion and his desire to help his business grow.

some partnerships later and ben ended up as part owner of a top tier racing team, in which he runs his part successfully out of his hometown of heartsdale.

at UGA ben met the woman who’d become the love of his life. he married her not long after finding out she was pregnant with his child, a discovery he considers one of the single most happiest moments of his life.

her father didn’t approve and ben really didn’t care. he has his wild side but is mostly considered fun-loving and carefree, not really someone that sought approval from anyone else. that doesn’t mean it wasn’t a sore spot for ben for some time, it was, even if it was mostly because of the way her father cast her out simply for being with him.

apparently the man couldn’t see the kid had ambition and a vision. it may have been a humble start, when they were married and soon after welcomed mia into the world, but they never struggled and eventually ben’s dreams came to fruition.

wedded bliss, a happy and healthy kid, and a success in business — it seemed something had to give eventually. when his wife became a bit wayward, skipping out on the small family to travel and seemingly live a life away from them for her own career, ben began to hurt.

considering his wife the love of his life, seeing her time and time again choose anything and everything over her family (him AND their daughter), it really wore him down.

when he couldn’t take it anymore, not just his own pain but mia’s, ben served his wife with divorce papers. and since it’s been a long, rough battle.

he still loves his wife and holds hope (secretly) that things will work out in the end, but he’ll sacrifice himself for the sake of mia. ben may fight and be incredibly stubborn and unmoving/unforgiving but he can’t fully resist his wife’s charms — making their divorce incredibly convoluted and more of a mess than it ever needed to be.
