solved problem with USB 3 hanging HDD
Situation
WD My password USB 3.0
Samsung serie 7 Ulta, windows 8 Pro 64 bit
Each time I plugged my HDD into the USB 3 port of the laptop
pc started to hang
in task Manager, could we see that the System Interrupts was taking up to 30% of the CPU
only solution was to reboot
In the same time (september 2013)
Windows Update was at latest stand
Samsung update did not propose and improvements
Looking a WD site, I found that one can update the HDD FW, which I never did before

Upgrading done on the USB 2 port to maintain the laptop stable, now the USB 3 can be used without problems.
