the hunt is (among other things) a christian allegory, paralleling the passion, incarnation, and resurrection of jesus. i do lean into this (purposefully but) loosely in other aspects—how andromeda is 'conceived', her vagabond lifestyle, etc.

unicorns are a rare and exceptionally powerful species by design, meaning large numbers are redundant. they travel in blessings and keep to themselves as much as possible, though when spotted or interacted with have been mistaken as angels, nymphs, and fae. they can be killed, but not permanently. something something energy can't be destroyed only transformed something something...

while the relationship between the scientist and andromeda is black and white to us, to her it's anything but. he uses her need to belong to his advantage, blurring the lines between captor and guardian. when it comes down to it, she struggles with reclaiming her horn, knowing it will likely end in his death.

andromeda admires humans. their quirks, passions, community. you name it, she’s enthralled. between this and her need to have an identity and purpose, she tries to assimilate amongst them in the kingdom. even with little memory, she understands deep down that something separates her from them, and it isn't something she can 'fix'.

even though her approach was less than ideal, the maiden isn't evil. yes, she was stealing and selling andromeda's blood, but she was stealing and selling andromeda's blood to help those ailing with sickness. that in and of itself is also questionable, because why not just give it freely? but a girl's gotta eat. ironically, had the maiden been upfront from the start, andromeda would've willingly helped.

What are their chief tension areas?

      In the years between 1961 and 1971, Remus John Lupin was bitten by Fenrir Greyback, puncturing the bottom blade of his left shoulder to which his unhinged jaw reached the curvature of Remus’ right neck. He survived. In the years between 1971 and 1978, Remus John Lupin attends Hᴏɢᴡᴀʀᴛs Sᴄʜᴏᴏʟ ᴏғ W & W, meeting the Marauders, and consequently gaining three new brothers. Who, of which, sling their arms across his shoulders, jostling and playing rough. He survived. In the year of 1981, Remus had consequently lost all of his brothers in the First Wizarding War.
